Principal Information Communication Technology Officer

Qualifications

For appointment to this Grade, an officer must have:

  • A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory role;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent from a recognized Institution;
  • Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;

  • A minimum of any two (2) certifications from relevant professional bodies in either CCNP, CDCP, CCNA Cloud, CCNA Industrial/IoT, CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, MCSD, N+, A+ OCA, CISSP, Linux+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), CISA, CISM, CGEIT or any other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • CISA Membership or an equivalent ICT professional body;
  • Certificate in Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Installing and maintaining computer systems;
  • Analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing computer programs;
  • Configuring Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN);
  • Providing user support;
  • Configuring Local Area Network and Wide Area Network;
  • Developing and updating application systems;
  • Carrying out systems analysis, design and programs specifications in liaison with users;
  • Drawing up hardware specifications for Information Communication Technology equipment;
  • User and Systems Support and Logging of incidents;
  • Verifying, validating and certifying Information Communication Technology equipment;
  • Ensuring effective working of systems for efficient service delivery;
  • Configuring new Information Communication Technology equipment; and
  • Implementing systems and network security.
