Announcement: Temporary Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant
The African Population and
Health Research Center (APHRC) is a leading Africa-based, African-led,
international research institution headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, with a
regional office in Dakar, Senegal.
Our researchers are
contributing to the body of evidence about the critical issues in population
health and wellbeing impeding Africa’s development in order to provide strong
direction and recommendations to policy- and decision-makers at all levels.
Our priority research areas are
Human Development, Health and Well-Being, Data Science and Evaluation, and
Population Dynamics and Urbanization in Africa.
In addition to the research
component, APHRC has other programmatic areas in Research and Related Capacity
Strengthening, Policy Engagement and Communications and International programs.
APHRC seeks to recruit two Temporary Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants to support the implementation of the
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Plan 2022-2026.
The M&E Assistant will play
a critical role in ensuring that data collected is accurate, complete and
timely, and that it is used to inform programmatic decisions and improve
performance.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting data from various sources, including
APHRC staff, partners and beneficiaries, to track the progress of
strategic objectives;
- Enter data into databases and maintain the accuracy and
completeness of data;
- Assist in analyzing data to identify trends, patterns and
insights, and present findings to the M&E team;
- Assist in preparing and submitting reports on impact and
outcomes
- Provide support to the MEL unit teams in the implementation
of M&E activities.
- Collaborate with other members of the MEL team, project
managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that M&E activities are
aligned with MEL Plan goals and objectives;
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of M&E processes
and procedures to ensure that they are efficient, effective and responsive
to project needs; and
- Perform any other tasks required to advance the MEL unit’s
agenda.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Development
Studies, Project Management, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in monitoring and
evaluation, with experience in formulation of M&E frameworks, tracking
project milestones, data collection and analysis.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis software
such as Stata or SPSS.
