Upper Rift Region: Program Officer- Regional Office – Grade NCIC 6
Job Summary
- The job holder is responsible for providing the required
technical support services for organizing and implementing activities for
the execution and articulation of the NCIC mandate at the County level.
This position is responsible for assisting in implementing peacebuilding
and reconciliation activities through participation in peace meetings,
mobilizing for workshops,
- seminars and trainings aimed at enhancing peaceful and
harmonious coexistence among the communities within the County in the
region .
- The Programme officer will be in charge of One County in the
Upper Rift Region. The regional office will be located in Kapenguria.

Duties and
responsibilities
Operational
Responsibilities / Tasks
- Assists in the development and implementation of the peace
building and reconciliation programmes and projects.
- Collects information on thematic issues particularly on peace
building and conflict resolution.
- Participates in organizing dialogue meetings, workshops and
forums.
- Assists in planning and organization of meeting, workshops
and trainings.
- Collects and disseminates information on peace building and
reconciliation.
- Collects information on causes of conflicts, actors and other
related issues.
- Collects and collates information on peace building and
conflict to inform early warning and early response.
- Carries out peace building and reconciliation activities and
helps in registration of participants and drafting of reports.
- Prepares internal briefs and reports on project activities.
- Implements policies, guidelines and strategies on public
education and engagement that aim to support peaceful coexistence among
different ethnic communities in Kenya.
- Conducts advocacy campaigns and activities on issues
affecting ethnic relations.
- Collects and collates information on activities that promote
the elimination of all forms of discrimination on the basis of ethnicity,
race, religious, cultural, linguistic and other forms of diversity in a
plural society.
- Conducts training needs assessments for specific targeted
groups on public education and engagement.
- Supports the organization in the implementation of training
programmes and in carrying out activities on public awareness and
advancement of peace and harmony among ethnic communities and racial
groups.
- Collects information and develops IEC materials on public
awareness, support and advancement of peace and harmony among ethnic
communities and racial groups.Champions activities that discourage persons
and institutions from advocating or promoting discrimination or
discriminatory practices on the ground of ethnicity or race.
- Carries out sensitization programmes and activities that
promote tolerance, understanding and acceptance of diversity in all
aspects of national life and encourage full participation by all ethnic
communities in the social, economic, cultural and political life of other
communities.
- Supports the implementation of activities that promote
respect for religious, cultural, linguistic and other forms of diversity
in a plural society.
- Assists in conducting stakeholder and validation forums.
- Supports the preparation of budgets for the County activities.
- Provides support in the development, implementation and
review of work plans.
- Initiates briefs for activities and office assignments.
Academic qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Peace
and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations,
Sociology, Social Work, Anthropology, Public Administration, Psychology,
Project Management and Gender and Development or its equivalent
qualification from a recognized institution.
