Optometrist

Overall Responsibility

To examine eyes, diagnose problems or impairments, prescribe corrective lenses, and provide treatment.

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Provide outpatient care for patients with eye-related disorders and conditions
  2. Conduct routine eye examinations, including visual field tests
  3. Determine each patient’s visual acuity, field of vision and hand-eye coordination
  4. Take detailed medical histories for all patients, including current and past prescription medications
  5. Evaluate eye-related symptoms, such as discharge, redness and inflammation
  6. Prescribe corrective lenses when required
  7. Refer patients to board-certified ophthalmologists when required for more holistic eye care
  8. Educate patients on proper eye care
  9. Identify eye health safety factors that could impact vision, and educate patients accordingly.
  10. Advise patients about proper eye hygiene and care.
  11. Develop, review and ensure compliance to the Clinics Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
  12. Review and update budget for Eye clinic department.

 

Job Requirements

  1. Degree/diploma in Optometry from a recognized institution
  2. Licensed Optometrist
  3. At least 1 year of hands-on clinical experience
