Microbiologist
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct testing including Sterility tests; Bioburden tests;
Efficacy tests; Bacterial Endotoxin tests; Identification of
Microorganisms and Sensitivity tests.
- Develop, write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and
Work Instructions for the laboratory.
- Manage samples including receiving; registration; storage and
disposal according to approved laboratory procedures.
- Manage laboratory equipment including operation, cleaning,
calibration and maintenance.
- Manage storage of reference microorganisms to ensure they
remain viable for analysis.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Maintain general cleanliness of the laboratory following good
housekeeping practices.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory consumables including PPEs,
reagents, media, equipment spare parts and glassware for accountability.
- Participate in self-inspections for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance to safety and regulatory requirements while
working under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Job requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology or any other
related course
- At least 5 years’ hands-on experience in a Microbiology
testing laboratory
- Experience in food-borne pathogen testing or microbiology
testing in the food and beverage industry is an added advantage
- Experience working in an ISO 17025:2017 accredited laboratory
is desirable
