Chief Nursing Officer

Overall Responsibility

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership for all the nursing related functions at the Hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, review, update and ensure compliance with policies and procedures in nursing department
  2. Manage day-to-day operations of the nursing departments and provide quality cost-effective care for the patient population.
  3. Provide supervision and strategic direction to all the members of the nursing department.
  4. Manage the departmental budget and develop cost containment strategies within the unit.
  5. In charge of performance management within the department.
  6. Take lead in managing quality improvement and patient safety programs within the facility.
  7. Facilitate learning opportunities to ensure personal and professional growth of departmental staff.
  8. Participate in multi-disciplinary committees.
  9. Take part in the recruitment process of the nursing staff.
  10. Take an active role in clinical nursing-as the team leader.
  11. Advise management on the best nursing practices.
  12. Play the link between the nursing unit and other departmental heads.
  13. Any other duty as may be assigned.

Job Qualifications & Skills

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a nurse leadership position.
  3. Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  4. Must have a Valid Practice license
  5. Active BLS & ACLS certification
  6. Demonstrated leadership & interpersonal skills.
