Security Officer

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing implementation of security measures and regulations by students, staff, visitors and suppliers
  • Monitoring security systems such as alarms, surveillance CCTV cameras and access control systems to ensure they are working
  • Supervising outsourced security personnel to ensure value for money.
  • Safeguarding security of School assets against theft, pilferage, damage, misuse or sabotage
  • Carrying out security risk assessment and providing recommendations to the Management
  • Ensuring no loitering of staff, students and visitors on the restricted areas.
  • Prepare, review, and update security, safety policies and procedures.
  • Carryout daily security surveillance both electronically and physically.
  • Sensitizing internal and external customers on matters of general security, crime prevention and fraud control
  • Assessing and investigating all forms of threats that might lead to breach of security and safety and responding to situations with mitigating measures.
  • Carryout internal security investigations into missing items, allegations, establishing the facts and report to the School Principal, and deciding whether to involve the police

  • Monitor the budget of the security department i.e. expenditure against the approved budget.
  • Establish and implement strategies to protect the school.
  • Maintain regular contacts with state security agencies for information.
  • Liaison with law enforcement agencies to ensure effective execution.

Maintain records of Acts of unlawful interference or crime for possible prosecution or other reference.

Qualification

  • Must have a Diploma in Criminology/Security or any other relevant Course
  • 10 years’ experience with a minimum of 3 years in Management
  • Preference given to candidates who have worked with Kenya police, Kenya Prisons, or any reputable security firms
  • Experience in school setup is an added advantage.
  • Should be physically fit.
  • With Knowledge in ICT, security procedures, patrol planning, criminology and investigations.
  • In depth knowledge of security systems, both electronic and physical.
