Deal Lawyer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal advice, focusing on the company’s financing business, including drafting and negotiating contracts.
  • Reviewing financial contracts and the related documentation while liaising with external counsel where necessary.  
  • Overseeing deal structuring, deal negotiation, and deal closing for investments and providing BURN with post-investment legal support.
  • Performing Due diligence on potential investments by reviewing all financial records and past company performance to confirm all facts.
  • Reporting and escalating appropriate finance legal matters on an ongoing and regular basis to the line manager.

Skills and Experience


  • Have 5+ years of experience as a multinational company or law firm deal lawyer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law and active practice license in Kenya.
  • Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience conducting labor and employment-related investigations.
  • Experience with employee benefits and compensation plans.
  • Have experience managing outside counsel.
  • Proven experience in resolving international legal issues across borders and multi-jurisdictions.
  • A team player capable of working independently on multiple issues in a fast-paced, multicultural environment while emphasizing the overall corporate mission, policies, and goals.
