JOB PURPOSE
To provide health care to
patients and continuously evaluate and improve the quality of care provided to
meet patient treatment goals in the Inpatient and Outpatient departments.
Duties &
Responsibilities
- Examining
and talking to patients to diagnose their medical conditions;
- Attending
to patients in the Inpatient and Outpatient department in conjunction with
the consultants.
- Making
notes and preparing paperwork, both as a legal record of treatment and for
the benefit of other healthcare professionals;
- Initiate
timely discussions with relevant consultants/departments to arrive at the
best treatment plan for specialized cases.
- Coordinate
and discuss planned care with the patient and other team professionals as
appropriate.
- Coordinating
and managing emergency patients in the inpatient and outpatient and
ensuring client referral is effective.
- Attending
to direct admissions
- Maintain
effective interpersonal relationships with all staff and patients and
ensure clients have a good customer experience.
- Participating
in trainings, weekly CMEs and Mortality audits
- Ensure
that patients are kept fully informed of and understand all procedures and
treatments to be undertaken.
- Counseling
patients and relatives on diagnosis
- Comply
with the hospital quality assurance policy and guidelines and work within
the prescribed quality standards for medical care.
- Participate
in the review and development of appropriate policies and procedures for
patients’ health care to formulate best practice guidelines.
- Participate
in the meticulous use of resources to enable patient safety and quality
care by working closely with members of the clinical care team to reduce
errors and waste, improve skillfulness and resource utilization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor
of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B)
- Registration
by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
- Certificate
in Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- 2
Years Post Internship Experience
- Valid

diagnosis, and make appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic decisions.

need to, in a safe and supportive environment, and that they also develop.
- A
clinician who heeds and respects the patient’s autonomy, striving at conveying

successful treatment and; understands that respect empowers the patients
and facilitates honest, two-way communication.
- A

- A
clinician with a demonstrated constructive management of medical errors.
