Business Development - AAMC Officer

Job Description.

To develop and execute a business development strategy by exploring innovative approaches through which to ramp up the marketing and eventual sale of asset management products to as broad an audience as possible. The job holder will be expected to provide effective leadership in respect of leveraging on the existent distribution channels as well as grow & oversee new avenues through which to funnel business i.e., independent financial advisors inter alia.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Driving sales volumes and new growth across all asset management product offerings in a systematic manner, especially in the Unit Trust business. Conversion of high net worth and corporate clients is key.
  • Driving and converting sales to clients in your current portfolio.
  • Establishing and maintaining regular contact with current and prospective clients.
  • Dealing effectively and expeditiously with queries and complaints from clients & intermediaries thus enhancing client trust and retention.
  • Developing and implementing appropriate marketing strategies, and taking a lead role in developing relevant marketing materials and attendant budgets input.

  • Providing timely, up-to-date information and reports to stakeholders regarding the status of the business development initiatives in terms of execution.
  • Developing and maintaining a prioritized partner pipeline of all existing, new & prospective intermediaries with a view to strategically targeting them to enhance business development.
  • Researching, drafting, and independently producing materials for client meetings/interviews
  • Drive the end-to-end sales process
  • Ability to document clearly and effectively including tracking marketing initiatives
  • Collating and presenting relevant market intelligence with a view to possibly enhancing internal competitive advantages to the extent possible.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or any such relevant area
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for selling investment products/promoting investment literacy.
  • An analytical approach to business development borne of experience, pragmatism, and well-honed client and product research skills.
  • Ability to set up and fully own a business development structure that is both alive to the current structure on the ground e.g., existent DSF, yet also forward-looking in terms of structural efficiency.
  • Excellent appreciation of customer needs, an ability to match that need to investment solutions as provided by the asset manager’s current products or advice on potential solutions.

Professional Qualification

  • CISI Level 2 qualification.
  • Investment qualifications (ICIFA, CISI, etc.) or any relevant marketing credentials are an added advantage.

Experience

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience and a demonstrable track record in closure of business development targets in their historical work experience.
