Training & Learning Unit Lead
MAIN OBJECTIVES
The Training &
Learning Unit Lead is responsible for devising the organizational learning
strategy, overseeing its implementation, and assessing its outcomes. They will
work with various stakeholders to identify learning and developmental needs and
drive suitable training programmes which will enhance employee skills,
performance, productivity, operational excellence and ultimately, the goals of
the Section.
The role holder will report to the Director of HR/Admin. They will manage a team consisting of Learning, Leadership and Talent Development specialists and L&D Officers. They will also work closely with trainers/facilitators, advisors, pool/career managers, recruiters, support departments at HQ and training units of other MSF sections.
Duties &
Responsibilities
Essential 80%
- Creates and executes a strategy and plan for
learning and development for the Section.
- Leads all learning and development activities of the
Learning and Development Unit.
- Drives consistent, effective design and
implementation of learning and development programs aligned to the
Section’s operational goals, guiding principles and strategy.
- Develops a comprehensive annual learning and
development plan for technical and soft skills development for improved
operations and delivery of the Section’s ambitious goals.
- Develops and drives relevant metrics that produce
valuable insights to guide MSF EA’s strategies and measure the impact,
engagement and transfer of learning of the Section’s learning and
development programmes.
- Provides a broad range of learning solutions,
including digital/e-learning, virtual and instructor-led programs;
- Responsible for designing, curating, leading, and
evaluating L&D programmes at all levels;
- Ensures MSF EA and MSF International core principles
and values are the foundation of all L&D initiatives;
- Manages the Section’s L&D budget;
- Develops and implements a set of minimum standards
for the Section’s learning and development initiatives, including content,
annual training plans, processes, procedures, delivery, reporting, budget,
and structure
- Monitor and report on L&D initiatives, costs and
performance.
Essential 20%
- Build relationships and influence the management
teams and colleagues to address issues that inhibit effective learning.
- Support Talent Development initiatives.
- Foster and develop a learning culture within the
organization.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
- Learning and development, certified professional in
training management, learning and performance and similar courses.
- Learning and development professional with extensive
experience, with at least 5 years experience in Human Resource Management
and at least 3 years leading or managing a team/unit/department.
- Experience working for an international medical
humanitarian or development not-for-profit organization (preferred).
- Committed to and experience in advancing equity,
diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
- Highly strategic, strong conceptual thinker.
- A fast and effective learner – identifies relevant
gaps in knowledge, does research and masters a new skill/area of expertise
quickly.
- Keeps pace with change – acquires knowledge/skills
as the industry changes and develops
- A commitment to MSF’s mission and values.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Extensive knowledge of adult learning principles and
modern training techniques (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or
in-classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc).
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including
PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
- Communication skills, including written and
presentation.
- Proficiency in English (both writing and speaking),
and French will be an advantage.
- Skills to prepare meaningful management information
and reports
- Skills to deliver impactful and relevant training.
- Ability to lead, manage and communicate effectively
with diverse teams.
WE OFFER
A full time employment
contract as soon as possible through MSF East Africa Section Office in Nairobi.
An annual salary of KES 5,181,181 based on a fulltime appointment.
Global benefit package; includes school fee
benefit/support for dependents and other allowances ranging between KES
75,000-140,000/month based on individual & administrative status.
Other benefits include: 25 days of annual leave, Employer Pension
contribution, Relocation support for non-Kenyan residents etc based on MSF EA
terms/conditions.
