Kentegra Biotechnology located at the EPZ Athi River is looking for an Environmental, Social, Health and Safety Officer.
This job will champion world class practices on Occupational
Health and Safety, Environmental stewardship, and Sustainable Business
Practices in the company as a whole in a manner that ensures we
meet and exceed legal and social expectations.
This role shall cover both the Factory (EPZ) operations and the
Field Operations including the Commercial and Nursery Farms.
The Officer shall ensure compliance and also be the key advisor to Management on matters occupational health and safety, and environment as a whole.
The key tasks for this
role include:-
· Developing,
implementing, and maintaining organization specific EHS programs and processes
while providing the necessary leadership and accountability,
· Ensuring regulatory
compliance, emergency preparedness and fire protection,
· Proactively conducting
risk assessments and safe working procedures for all types of activities within
the business,
· Overseeing the
development and implementation of systems that improve the company’s occupation
health, environmental and social performance.
· Managing and ensuring
100% compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements around operations,
occupational health, safety, social and environmental issues at all Kentegra
Sites.
· Working with the Health
and Safety committee or any other working teams that will be formed to ensure
that all Occupational Accidents and Incidents, Environmental Incidents or
events and Social risk exposures are investigated in a timely and objective
fashion and that the preventive and corrective actions plans are identified and
implemented.
· Planning and conducting
EHS training and coaching Operations Teams.
· Advising the company on
all responses to regulatory bodies with respect to all matters Environment,
Occupational Health, Social and Safety.
· Interfacing with
regulatory agencies on behalf of the company as the need may arise and being
the liaison with management on the same.
· Ensuring effective
management of pest control methods , Waste Management, Water treatment,
Drainage systems management, Equipment and Personnel Hygiene, Facilitation of
calibrations services and efficient supply of utilities.
· Ensuring the remedial
action plans as a result of relevant audits are implemented in a timely manner
to reduce exposure.
· Spearheading deliberate
efforts to reduce the risk profile of the company such as working with
contractors and service providers on site to foster a safe working environment
and responsible environmental practices.
· Implementing corrective
actions to achieve compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations,
and standards, and communicating the same to the organization.
Qualifications and work
experience required for this role
· A Minimum of a BSc in
Engineering/BTEC or equivalent from an accredited university.
· Very good and
demonstrable working knowledge of the OSHA 2007 and EMCA Acts.
· Any relevant
professional certifications will be an added advantage.
· Must be Computer
literate with working knowledge on Microsoft Office Suite.
· Must have a minimum of
four years relevant working experience (manufacturing is an added advantage).
· Excellent
organizational, interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
· Great attention to
detail
· Good project management
skills.
· Ability to be flexible,
decisive and adjusting to changing priorities and making decisions with speed
based on available information
