Assistant Librarian Job in Kenya

The Assistant Librarian is responsible for providing support, assisting with the administration and organization of resources to ensure smooth running of the library.

Duty & Responsibilities

·         Assist library users to easily access information resources (print and non-print materials) and ethically use the information.  

·         Organizing the library collection via shelving, etc, for maximum and effective use  

·         Process acquired library and bookstore resources via cataloguing and classification  

·         Organize and reshelve returned books and other resources

·         Assist the Librarian in overseeing the use of all library materials and equipment. 

·         Assist with departmental administrative tasks including filing and photocopying.  

·         Participate in creating interesting and relevant displays to draw library users.

·         Undertake routine (daily) library procedures.  

·         Provide clerical support as required by Librarian. 

Qualifications

·         At least a diploma in Library/Information Science or a related course

·         Proficient in Microsoft office and other data management applications

·         Outstanding organizational skills. 

·         Attention to detail and exceptional interpersonal skills.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication.
