Position Title: Project Assistant – Dadaab

Job description
Reporting to the Health and Nutrition Manager, the Project Assistant will be responsible for monitoring, evaluation, data management, coordinating, implementation, and documentation of strategies to effectively address project interventions. S/he will support in the coordination of project activities in Dadaab refugee camp with technical support from the Health and Nutrition Manager and Programme Coordinator at HQ.


Key Responsibilities
  • To support the overall implementation of the project, including reporting, financial management and monitoring.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with the County and sub county for project updates and any other related technical support
  • Support the CHVs in the implementation of project activities as stipulated in the agreement as well as ensure they are reaching the stipulated targets.
  • Ensure that project volunteers (CHVs/Incentives) have necessary tools for implementation of the planned project work including relevant adapted IEC materials
  • Ensure realization of verifiable data and full reporting for all project deliverables in relation to M&E functions
  • Ensure adequate data quality is maintained in the Camp by ensuring accurate, complete and reliable datasets and reports are submitted to HQ.
  • Support in planning and conducting capacity building initiatives for CHVs/Incentives and other implementing partners
  • Continuously assess the skills and capacities of the project volunteers; organize on the job training to update their knowledge and skills e.g. through weekly, monthly / quarterly meetings
  • Ensure implementation of community health strategy through collaborative effort with CHS Coordinator, CHS County and sub County, supervisors/Community Health Committees (CHCs) and support CHVs to create awareness through community health dialogue days and action days among others
  • Monitor project implementation activities by the CHVs to ensure timely and quality implementation of project vis-à-vis approved work plans and targets
  • In collaboration with the project accountant, ensure proper management and accountability of funds in line with financial and budgetary policies and procedures of GF TB grant
  • Participate in various stakeholders meetings organized either by UNHCR or the County and Sub County and other implementing partners within Dadaab
  • Support programmatic documentation of promising practices, case studies and lessons learnt for purposes of knowledge sharing and improvement in programming.
 Qualifications

    • Public Health, Social Development or equivalent qualifications
    • Relevant post-graduate qualification in Community, or equivalent qualifications with certificate in project management
    • Work experience of over four (4) years in TB/HIV related
    • Over four (3) years’ experience in Grants and Project Management.
    • Additional experience in Health grant programs will be an added advantage

    • Knowledge on TB and HIV management, trends and goals at national and regional levels aimed at preventing and alleviating TB/HIV related human suffering
    • Very strong M&E skills
    • Demonstrated technical experience in project planning and budgeting as well as programme monitoring and evaluation
    • Ability to initiate and manage change and to recognize and adjust to rapidly changing conditions in order to align project to the GF strategic plan.
    • Ability to foster teamwork and communication among staff and stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including ability to build collaborative relationships with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and political issues
    • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, data-base, email and utilization of the internet
