Position: Learning Design Associate – Primary Kiswahili
Position: Learning Design Associate – Primary Kiswahili
As a Learning Design Associate for Primary Kiswahili, you
will revolutionize the way 21st century skills and knowledge are developed in
African schools. You will be a central member of the team that will develop the
Kiswahili language learning model that we will use in our schools in Kenya.
Function: Network
Your role will be based in our Network Office, Matundu
Close, Westlands, with 1-2 days on our campuses each week.

Responsibilities
- Use
themes, big ideas, Cambridge Curriculum, and Kenyan National Curriculum to
create the day by day overview of lessons in Kiswahili for Pre-Primary 2
through Grade 5.
- Create
year-long Scope & Sequences for Kiswahili in Pre-Primary 2
through Grade 5.
- Create
detailed, inquiry-based lesson plans using Reggio Emilia approach, blended
learning, and small-group instruction.
- Create
materials that go along with each lesson.
- Create
a full unit’s worth of material that culminates in Project Based Learning.
- Work
with the Team Lead and classroom teachers to revise lessons after they
have been taught.
- Work
with learning designers in English, Humanities and Math/Science to create
integrated projects and investigations.
- Create
strong assessments/rubrics/continuum/checklists that allow each teacher to
evaluate students.
- Create
assessments that infuse multiple assessment methods into the questions.
- Receive
professional development on the Nova Model of Learning Design, integrated
curriculum design, STEAM, Project-Based Learning.
- Additional
responsibilities as assigned by your manager.
Qualifications
- You
have 1-3 years of experience in a rigorous, high-expectations primary
setting.
- You
are a fluent Kiswahili speaker with a passion for learning languages.
- You
have a Bachelor’s degree in primary education and/or Kiswahili education.
- You
have a desire to further develop your curriculum development skills and
apply them to transform the lives of African youth.
- You
have strong writing skills in Kiswahili and English and are able to use
those to create lessons that will help people learn it while being engaged
and interested.
- You
are driven by data and can use data from student assessments to strengthen
lessons and spiral in key skills

- You
have strong writing skills and are able to use those to create lessons
that will help people learn it while being engaged and interested
- You
are driven by data and can use data from student assessments to strengthen
lessons and spiral in key skills
- Bachelor’s

Responsibilities
- Living
the Nova Pioneer Culture
- Upkeep
and general care of the school inside and out
- Ensure
rubbish bins are positioned in all allocated areas
- Manage
the security of rubbish bins across the campus
- Ensure
that all external rubbish is stored appropriately
- Ensure
that all laundry services are done as per the standard policies
- Keep
the campus clean and tidy, pick up obvious litter and be responsible for
the removal of all debris from paths, play areas, grassed areas, gardens
and entrances
- Support
staff and students on recycling initiatives
- General
transporting duties for equipment, furniture, etc throughout campus
- Assisting
the simple building maintenance tasks as requested by the Caretaker
- Help
with kitchen duties when called upon
- Any
other work requested by and deemed appropriate by the Caretaker and the
Principal
- Any
other duties as assigned by your manager
Qualifications
- You
have a High School Diploma (KSCE) certificate.
- You
have 1+ Years Proven work experience as a Housekeeper/Cleaner or relevant
position in a reputable Cleaning Firm or a fast-paced organization
- You
have a proven track record of holding yourself and your teammates to high
standards of operational excellence.
- You
have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- You
are a thoughtful planner able to multi-task, prioritise effectively, take
initiative, and deliver for many stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- You
are a proactive, creative, and measured problem-solver. You have the
ability to quickly and calmly identify and analyse problems and to
recommend or implement effective solutions.
- Computer
literacy is an added advantage

There are a series of stages in the Nova Pioneer interview
process and candidates will be moved forward in the process depending on their
success in the previous stage. The process is as follows:
Phone interview: a short conversation to understand your
skills and experience a little better.
Practical demonstration of what you can do: you will
complete a written task or a demonstration related to the role you are applying
for. Teachers participate in a half-day selection day at one of our campuses as
well as deliver a lesson to a class.
In-person interviews: at this point, you will visit one of
our schools to meet the team and participate in a series of in-person interviews.
Final interview: you’ll have a final conversation with the
hiring manager before decisions are made.
