The Rural Electrification and Renewable
Energy Corporation, (formerly, the Rural Electrification Corporation ) a state
corporation established under the Energy Act, 2019, is mandated to enhance
provision of electricity in the rural areas of the country as well as develop,
manage and promote the use of renewable energy in Kenya. Through its mandate,
the Corporation seeks to improve the socio-economic well-being of Kenyans
living in rural areas as well as develop cheap alternative sources of energy
through the promotion of renewable energy. Since commencing operations in the
2008/09 financial year, the Corporation has endeavored to realize this
objective and through its efforts, 70% of all the public facilities have been
electrified. Moving forward, the Corporation will put more focus on renewable
energy to provide electricity to areas far away from the national grid network.

- Certificate
of Good Conduct (renewable after two (2) years);
- First
Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. Johns
Ambulance or any other recognized institution;

accident free driving period of 3 years; and

LEGAL ASSISTANT, GRADE REREC 8 (1 POST)
Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in:-
- Attending
registries and/or other government offices for purposes including: filing,
registrations, making payments, making applications, fixing dates,
perusals and searches, extracting court orders, obtaining consents,
obtaining conveyancing demands and certificates;
- Effecting
service and delivery of requisite dispatch;
- Preparing
and signing affidavits of service;
- Facilitating
payment of legal fees;
- Updating
contractors/customers/clients and calling for documents which are in their
possession where necessary
- Arranging
files in the Corporation’s legal registry, and filing documents in the
relevant files;
- Retrieving
files and documents needed by Legal Counsel; and
- Handling
matters expected of a Assistant and or any other duties as may be assigned
from time to time.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT, GRADE REREC 8 (2 POSTS)
Responsibilities
An officer may be posted in Receiving, Stock Control and Issuing on periodic rotation:-

I. Receiving Functions
- Receiving
materials, examine condition and completeness;
- Using
computer systems to confirm the correct supplies;
- Confirming
all receiving documents; Bill of lading, packing list, delivery note etc.;
- Determining
space requirement and position of the material;
- Generating
Goods Received Notes (GRN);
- Capturing
and processing stores data;
- Complying
with Procurement Act;
- Preparing
requisitions for stocks replenishment;
- Monitoring
the movement of stores;
- Preparing
daily and weekly receiving reports; and
- Stock
verification and reconciliation of records.
II. Stock controls Functions
- Verification
of physical stocks and comparing them with the system balances and record
the position;
- Monitoring
stock levels and report replenishment requirements;
- Filling
all the stock documents;
- Preparing
daily and weekly reports; and
- Complying
with Procurement Act.
III. Issuing Functions
- Confirming
authorization of requisitions and contractors;
- Determining
the vehicle capacity according to weight limits before loading;
- Issuing
stores;
- Sorting,
despatching and filing documents;
- Capturing
and processing stores data;
- Complying
with Procurement Act;
- Monitoring
the movement of stores;

policies and programmes on power system designs;

distribution and transmission lines;

designs for all grid extension projects as per the acceptable standards;
- Verifying
and authorising technical reports, designs estimates and drawings;
- Recommending
location of proposed distribution networks including primary and secondary
feeding substations by preparing description of project works, material
schedules and cost estimates;
- Advising
the Supplies Chain Management on the required materials as per the
approved projects for the year;
- Verifying
of wayleaves compensation before approval;
- Coordinating
and Compilation and documentation of projects technical reports including
Design, Survey, Cartography and Wayleave;
