Job Description:
The Youth Program intern will assist in developing the youth
strategy and engagement materials to support the upcoming events namely: The
Earth day Network event and The Club of Rome events. The Position will be
based at AWF HQ for a period of 2-3 months reporting directly to the Senior
Project Officer, Conservation and Communication Assistant.
Responsibilities:
·
Coordinate the identified youth
participating in the event in terms of logistical support: visa processing,
transfers and bookings.
·
Research and file youth engagement
activities that have been planned for the next 6 months and document the
relevance of AWF participation in the events.
·
Set up and record all meetings with
the AWF Youth Champions both online and offline.
·
Collect photos and or videos taken
during youth events and uploading them on box and widen for public use with
correct tags and captions
·
Assist in drafting the expected youth
engagement outcomes for each activity.
·
Complete departmental administrative
duties
·
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
·
A Degree in Public Relations,
Journalism, Communication or any related field.
·
At least one year working experience
in a related field.
·
Strong administrative and
organizational skills
·
Computer skills including Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, internet & social media
·
Proficiency in technical and report
writing
·
Excellent digital storytelling,
problem solving and time management skills.
·
Aptitude in presentation and public
speaking

internal and external communications materials to support projects and the
overall communications needs of AWF. The successful candidate will also assist
in event planning activities for specific upcoming events. The position
will be based at AWF HQ for a period of 2-3 months.
Responsibilities:

Research and file conservation,
environment and sustainable development stories related to AWF and other
stakeholders
·
Collect photos and or videos taken
during events and uploading them on box and widen for public use with correct
tags and captions
·
Assist in coordinating media
relations for selected events or activities
·
Assist the media team in logistics
and planning of events
·
Draft news articles in the news
section on the website
·
Complete departmental administrative

Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s degree in Public
Relations, Journalism, Communication with a high GPA (3.3 and above)
·
At least one year working experience
in a related field.
·
Strong administrative and

Graphic and Multimedia Design Officer
The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) is seeking a talented
graphic and multimedia designer to grow the Marketing & Creative team’s
capabilities building organizational brand awareness and leveraging novel
creative approaches to cut through the clutter. The successful candidate will
be responsible for producing video content, designing print and digital
collateral across mediums and channels, and coordinating with outside vendors.
The candidate will be highly creative, communicative, with an ability to meet
quick turnarounds in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment
Responsibilities:
·
Work closely with the Design &
Digital Development Manager to maintain and advance the organization’s visual
identity
·
Produce and edit videos for various
organizational initiatives including project shoots, interviews with high-level
staff and filming of wildlife
·
Create cutting-edge animations for
use in video and web projects
·
Coordinate video shoots conducted by
outside vendors working with the Design & Digital Development Manager
·
Support the design and layout of
AWF’s core publications and other print collateral.
·
Fulfill creative requests within the
organization ranging from office signage to merchandise
·
Create and maintain print templates
for use within the organization
·
Produce content for use across AWF’s
social media channels as needed
·
Support fundraising initiatives,
providing web graphics or video assets as needed
·
Assist in maintaining the
organization’s photography and video asset library
·
Maintain the Marketing & Creative
department’s A/V equipment at our Nairobi-based headquarters
·

Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design /
multimedia design or related field with 4+ year(s) of experience
·
Demonstrated ability to create a wide
variety of video assets including social media content, short-form video
series, and other related video projects.
·
Proven graphic design experience with
a portfolio consisting of a wide range of styles and out of the box creative
approaches
·
Proficient with Adobe CC’s core
applications e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign as well as Adobe’s suite of
video products including Premiere and After Effects
·
Experience with motion graphics,
using After Effects, Animate or similar applications
·
Video editing experience, and media
output and encoding for different platforms
·
Experience with video production
equipment a plus (camera operation, lighting and sound recording).
·
Excellent skill in design
conceptualization and corporate/product branding, with experience following
detailed brand style guides
·
Skills in typography, composition and
color
·
Experience with print production and
proof checking a plus
·
Professionalism regarding time, costs
and deadlines
·
Audience-first mindset and the

Budget & Grants Assistant
The Budget and Grants Assistant– (BGA) will be responsible for
the initial set-up of broad range of federal, non-federal government and
privately funded grants, including proper maintenance of documentation thereof.
This position will also be responsible for all sub-award and sub-recipient’s
relationships ensuring that all partners are vetted prior to contracting and
that sub-award and sub-recipient’s comply with the various donor’s/funders
regulations throughout the life of the award. The Budget and Grants Assistant
will report to the Budget and Grants Manager.
Occasional trips to the field may be required.
Responsibilities:
1. Grants Set-up and Maintenance
·
Set-up new awards in AWF Grants
Management System based on source documents received from Fundraisers
·
Organize and file all documentation
related to all restricted funding sources in an organized electronic filing
structure per AWF’s filing system and perform routine archiving functions
·
Set-up Award Restriction codes for
all approved work plans and ensuring all dimensions are accurate
·
Ensure all work plans are in
compliance to donor budgets
·
Update approved award modifications
in AWF Grants Management System and filing of back-up documents
·
Set up and process financial data
relating to grant estimates, expenditure codes, obligations, sub awards and
modifications in AWF Grants Management System
·
Maintain sub-grant reporting milestones.
·
Review and perform on-going
maintenance of the AWF Grants Management System with accurate grant information
·
Maintain a robust Award Ledger by
ensuring Awards Estimates contain key fields for effective running of a wide
range of reports
2. Budget Maintenance
·
Assist with processing of budget
journals in respect of organizational operating budget
·
Post budget adjustments in the Budget
ledger on a timely basis
·
Assist with Unanet timesheet system,
ensuring timesheet updates and adjustments are in accordance with the
organizational approved operating budget
·
Assist with tracking and posting
monthly in-kind/matching contribution documentation for grants with matching
requirements
3. Sub-award Maintenance
·
Assist with pre-award risk assessment
of all new sub-awardees
·
Maintain and monitor subaward
agreements throughout the entire process. This includes but not limited to the
review of contracts, financial reports, and close out of agreements.
·
Ensure all sub-awardees financial
reports, technical reports and audits are submitted to AWF in a timely fashion.
·
Review sub-awardees’ financial
reports by performing adequate review of their documentation and submitting to
Budget and Grants Manager for approval.
·
Ensure that close-out schedules for
sub-awardees are performed and done in a timely fashion.
·
Carry out continuous risk assessment
of Sub-awardees through desk review of their reports, review of sub-awardee’s
audited financial reports and site visits.
·
Prepare sub-award schedules for audit
4. Other duties
·
Assist in Grant and compliance with
donor rules and regulations;
·
Assist with reviewing and processing
of Procurement Requisitions and Purchase orders
·
Any other duties as delegated by the
supervisor
Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting,
Finance, Business Administration or related field
·
At least 2 years of relevant working
experience, at least within a donor funded nonprofit organization
·
Knowledge of grant management
principles, including U.S. government funding, European Union and German donors
·
French is a plus
·
Experience communicating financial
information to a non-financial audience
·
Ability to organize and present
issues in a clear, concise and logical manner
·
Strong technical skills, including MS
Excel, and ability to navigate within accounting systems and other databases
·
Ability to manage competing
priorities, exercise good judgment, and quickly identify and resolve problems
with minimum supervision
·
Excellent organizational skills,
attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
·
Ability to manage sensitive and
confidential matters with the highest level of professional
