Applications Architect
Business Architect Manager
The Applications Architect is responsible for developing IT
Solution blueprints (software, versioning & licensing, integrations,
scalability, management requirements and standards) and related documentation
for IT Systems in use by or to be procured by the Bank in line with Bank
policy, architecture best practices, standards and methods. The holder of the
role will demonstrate proficiency in Applications Solutions Architecture
through the design of business solutions, service-oriented solutions and
related infrastructure.
Responsibilities
·
Build a bridge between business
requirements and technical specifications by understanding business
requirements and use cases, and then finding ways to implement those use cases
in the business applications / solutions. Identify the requirements that affect
the structure and operational behaviors of the application.
·
Adopt approaches and methodologies
that demonstrate reduction in the business risks associated with building of
technical solutions.
·
Develop flexible designs able to
handle the natural drift that occur over time in hardware and software
technology, as well as in user scenarios and traffic volumes.
·
Identify the non-functional
requirements for the solution and provide an architecture that best
accommodates them.
·
Identify the kind of technologies,
standards, licenses, capacity sizing and limitations/constraints for the
application, considering the impact of other related/competing developments.
·
Create and Review Technical
Architecture Documents for system changes and new systems and solutions.
·
Having understood the banks
environment, provide and recommend Design Patterns and guide their application
/ use in delivering integration solutions in the bank.
·
Participate and guide on the
non-functional tests planning and execution i.e. performance / load tests,
security tests and high availability and fail over testing.
·
Document solutions, enabler features
and architecture using standard architecture and software engineering
artifacts.
·
Work with internal and external teams
to define and maintain quality standards, coding standards and implements
measures to ensure compliance through code reviews, automation, etc.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s degree in Computer
Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field of
study.
·
Professional qualifications such as
TOGAF, ITIL Foundation.
·
Project Management; PRINCE II is
added advantage.
·
7 years progressive experience in
Information Technology.
·
5 years’ experience in at least two
IT disciplines such as enterprise architecture, application architecture,
application development, middleware and SOA in a multi-tier environment.
·
Prior working experience in a leading
formal application architecture framework.
·
Exposure to multiple, diverse
technologies and processing environments spanning at least 5 years.
·
At least 5 years’ experience with
Operating systems (Windows, Unix).
·
Knowledge of Database Management
Systems.
·
Knowledge of Network Services,
protocols and Internetworking Technology.
·
Knowledge of Messaging and
Collaboration tolls and technologies.
·
Familiarity with graphical modeling
approaches, tools and model repositories.

Business Architect Manager
Reporting to the Head of Group Enterprise Architecture, the
Senior Manager, Business Architect will be responsible for developing and
maintaining business capabilities of the enterprise in line with the corporate
strategy as well as contributing to the business strategy and plans.
Lead IT business process architecture (information and process
design, modeling, mapping, documentation, improvement and\or enhancement) of
all IT Systems in use by the Bank. Participate in IT System(s) procurement,
development, implementation and review to ensure that Business Process
Architecture standards and methods are applied in line with Bank policy and
best practice.
Responsibilities
·
Elicit business requirements using
interviews, analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business
process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, tasks and
workflow analysis.
·
Translates strategic initiatives into
delivery-focused change initiatives, while translating business processes and
issues into effective conceptual and logical models.
·
Liaise with the Business subject
matter experts in the development of business architectural framework
developing a clear roadmap of Business solutions.
·
Lead effort to work with business
leaders to identify business capability needs and IT integration
·
Facilitate the identification and
analysis of the Bank’s business drivers to deliver enterprise business,
information, technical and solution architecture requirements.
·
Function as a liaison to Business and
IT partners in order to gain a broad understanding of industry trends and
innovations, and their impact on technology.
·
Provide an analysis to determine best
path for solving business problems/opportunities that may include process
improvement visa Vis information technology systems enhancement.
·
Provide architectural oversight of
projects and ensure that requirements are in alignment with business strategies
and business architecture roadmap/framework.
·
Build and maintain repository for
deliverables, methodologies, and business development documents.
·
Ability to independently facilitate
discussions with groups of diverse stakeholders and manage the flow of
conversation while driving to meet business objectives.
·
Ability to independently manage
conflict among diverse cross portfolio stakeholders related to competing
interests and requirements. Able to help stakeholders objectively examine real
needs versus wants and ways to collaborate to achieve win/win resolutions.
·
Leverages business capabilities as a
platform for illustrating the link between business needs with decisions to
their technology, solution, business and information architecture efforts.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s degree in Computer

study.

CBAP, TOGAF, ITIL Foundation.
·
Project Management; PRINCE II is
added advantage.
·
10 years progressive experience in
Information Technology.
·
5 years’ experience in at least two
IT disciplines such as business architecture, application architecture,
application development, middleware and SOA.
·
At least 5 years’ experience in
Database management systems.
·
At least 3 years’ experience in a
leading formal enterprise architecture framework.
·
Exposure to multiple, diverse
technologies and processing environments.
·
Excellent understanding of software
delivery processes and methodologies (i.e. waterfall, agile, hybrid).
·
Familiarity with graphical modeling
approaches, tools and model repositories.
·
Knowledge of all components of
holistic enterprise architecture.
·
Ability to liaise with all levels of
management and subject matter experts across the industry and within the
organization to drive adoption of Business Architecture.
