Research & Statistics Internship


The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications for the following position:
Internship Period: 3 months (non-renewable)
Reporting to the Assistant Manager Research & Statistics, the selected candidate will be responsible for;
Responsibilities

·         Collecting and editing relevant data and statistics for further manipulation/analysis
·         Assisting in preparation of performance monitoring reports on a regular basis
·         Coordinating stakeholder participation and engagement
·         Consolidation of proposals on policies, systems and strategies to improve Market Infrastructure as guided
·         Undertake other assignments as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics/ Econometrics
·         Good communication skills

Legal Assistant
Contract Period: Six Months Fixed Term Contract
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Licensing and Approvals, the selected candidate will be responsible for:
Responsibilities
·         Review applications for licensing and license renewals for market institutions and intermediaries.
·         Review prospectuses to ensure that the information to the public is accurate and complete and provides full disclosure of material facts.
·         Review applications for approval of equity and debt instruments and for the registration of Collective Investment Schemes
·         Review notices, announcements and advertisements by market intermediaries and listed companies and make recommendations of the suitability for publication.
·         Liaise with the Market Supervision Department to carry out due diligence with regard to the appointment of proposed directors and key personnel of market intermediaries.
·         Update and maintain the Contact Details and Movement of Key Personnel Database on a regular basis.
·         Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
·         Bachelor’s degree in law
·         Minimum of one year of relevant experience

Administrative Assistant

Contract Period: Six Months Fixed Term Contract
Reporting to the Director Regulatory Policy & Strategy, the selected candidate will be responsible for;
Responsibilities
·         Provide planning and logistical support to the directorate;
·         Undertake administrative and support duties including mailing, scanning and copying to all the functions within the directorate;
·         Prepare and format documents including correspondence, schedules, reports, drafts, memos and emails;
·         Document management including referencing, filing, maintaining document movement registers among others;
·         Provide administrative support to the Directorate meetings, maintaining departmental leave and working schedules, scheduling appointments among others;
·         Ensure cleanliness of the Directorate offices is maintained and liaise with ICT to ensure all the Directorate office equipment are serviceable;
·         Requisition office supplies from the stores, allocate as appropriate and maintain records;
·         Maintain an inventory of all the assets, supplies and other facilities of the Directorate and requisition all office utilities from the stores and other external providers for purposes of smooth office operations and report on serviceability of directorate facilities, equipment, fixtures and fittings;
·         Manage calls on behalf of the Director, as well as respond to other inquiries and coordinate internal and external communication/correspondences relating to the Directorate;
·         Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, travel and logistical arrangements for the Director;
·         Undertake Reception duties as and when required;
·         Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
·         Diploma in Secretarial/ Business Administration/ Front Office or a related qualification
·         One (1) year relevant experience
