Registered Clinical Officer (24-32K)

Job Group ‘H’

Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a:

·         Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognized institution; and
·         Certificate of Registration by Clinical Officers’ Council.
Responsibilities
This is the entry grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under guidance of a senior officer.
·         Taking history, examining, diagnosing and treating patients’ common ailments at an outpatient or inpatient health facility;
·         Implementing Community Health Care activities in liaison with other health workers;
·         Guiding and counseling patients, clients and staff on health issues;
·         Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health;
·         Carrying out minor surgical procedures as per training and skill;
·         Collecting and compiling clinical data; and
·         Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities.

Physiotherapist (24-32K)

Qualifications
·         Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized training institution;
·         Certificate of registration from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya; and
·         Current Certificate of Practice from Physiotherapy Council of Kenya.
Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
·         Providing physiotherapy services to inpatients and outpatients at an outpatient unit/ward/health institution;
·         Assessing patient needs including rehabilitation;
·         Verifying and maintaining information and records relating to patients’ screening, assessing and providing therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy and hydrotherapy as per the patients/clients formulated treatment plan;
·         Collecting data for operational research;
·         Sensitizing the community on physiotherapy issues; and
·         Preparing periodic reports.

Pharmaceutical Technologist (24-32K)

Qualifications
·         Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized training institution;
·         Certificate of Registration as a Pharmaceutical Technologist by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
·         Valid practicing license from Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Responsibilities
·         At this level an officer is expected to provide pharmaceutical services under guidance of a senior officer in providing pharmaceutical services in the hospital including compounding and dispensing medicine, and record keeping.

Medical Engineering Technologist (24-32K)

Qualifications
·         For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Diploma in Medical Engineering or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under supervision of a senior officer.
·         Undertaking preventive maintenance and repairs of medical/hospital equipment, plants, instruments and furniture;
·         Requisitioning for spare parts and consumables;
·         Taking inventory of medical/hospital equipment, furniture and plants; collecting information for research;
·         Collecting information on medical engineering services for input into the integrated health information management system;
·         Carrying out minor repairs of health facilities and utilities; and
·         Implementing medical engineering programmes and projects.

Orthopaedic Trauma Technologist (24-32K)

Qualifications
·         For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have a Diploma in Orthopedic Plaster Technology from a recognized institution.
Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of an experienced officer.
·         Manipulating and reducing fractures and dislocations;
·         Fixing and removing casts, bandages and tractions to and from patients;
·         Correcting congenital talipes equino-varus;
·         Counseling patients/clients on issues regarding orthopedic trauma;
·         Cleaning and treating simple wounds resulting from orthopedic trauma;
·         Documenting orthopedic and trauma cases; and
·         Assessing and referring patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

Occupational Therapist (24-32K)

·         Registration Certificate issued by the Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board of Kenya; and
·         Valid practicing license from the Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist board of Kenya.
Responsibilities
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of an experienced officer.

·         Coordinating provision of laboratory services in a number of units/sections;
·         Preparing work plans and programs for laboratory activities;
·         Submitting samples to reference laboratories and institutes for further analysis;
·         Preparing laboratory manuals and quality specifications;
·         Supervising safe laboratory waste disposal;
·         Carrying out efficacy tests;
·         Initiating requisition proposals and undertaking technical evaluation for laboratory supplies/equipment; and
·         Formulating technical laboratory standards

Radiographer (24-32K)

·         Diploma in any of the following: Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences, ultrasound, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy and Digital Medical imaging equipment or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
Responsibilities
This is an entry grade for this cadre. An officer in this grade will be required to work under supervision and guidance of a more experienced officer.

Public Health Officer (37-49K)

·         Conducting community health risk assessment and providing outcome-based interventions; documenting interventions and nursing outcomes;
·         Participating in quality improvement and quality assurance procedures; and

Responsibilities
This will be the entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will be expected to undertake social work activities and programmes, including; –
·         Counseling,
·         Placement,
·         Home based care,
·         Rehabilitation;
·         Follow up of patients in general but particularly sensitive cases of pandemic diseases
