JAM is seeking to appoint an innovative and inspirational Psychology who will be required to work in a fast paced environment.

Overview of the position
Job title: Psychology Teacher
Section: Senior school (Year 7 to year 13)
Reporting To: Head of senior school
Subject to be taught: Psychology
Key responsibilities
·         Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
·         Delivering lessons to a range of classes that cater for the needs and development of the students according to age, ability and aptitude within their class.
·         Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans according to the syllabus and translate them into learning experiences.
·         Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
·         Plan, initiate and guide the units of study in respective subjects and use variety of instruction strategies.
·         Create and evaluate assessments of each student’s academic work and social growth and keep records updated.
·         Communicate with parents on students’ progress.
·         Administer and mark assessments.
·         Communicate regularly and constructively with students and staff.
·         Set and assign appropriate homework on a regular basis to reinforce student learning and to prepare them for further class activities.
·         Use teaching methods that are engaging to students, stimulating intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, presentation and resources.
·         Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
·         Participate in curriculum development programs as required
·         Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
·         Participate in standardization/verification and moderation of the subject as required.
Qualifications
·         A Bachelor’s Degree in Education with Psychology as a major subject or a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.
·         Must be registered with Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
·         At least five years teaching experience.
·         Successful experience in teaching and learning.
·         Knowledge and understanding of current trends in teaching and learning practices.
·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to form effective relationships with all stakeholder groups.
·         Role model for teaching and learning across the school.

Job title: Sociology Teacher
Section: Senior school (Year 7 to year 13)

Reporting To: Head of senior school
Subject to be taught: Sociology
Key responsibilities
·         Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
·         Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans according to the syllabus and translate them into learning experiences.
·         Delivering lessons to a range of classes that cater for the needs and development of the students according to age, ability and aptitude within their class.
·         Advise students on academic and vocational curricula, and on career issues.
·         Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
·         Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks
·         Plan, initiate and guide the units of study in respective subjects and use variety of instruction strategies.
·         Create and evaluate assessments of each student’s academic work and social growth and keep records updated.
·         Communicate with parents on students’ progress.
·         Administer and mark assessments.
·         Ensure close liaison and good communications with other staff in matters concerning students.
·         Communicate regularly and constructively with students and staff.
·         Set and assign appropriate homework on a regular basis to reinforce student learning and to prepare them for further class activities.
·         Use teaching methods that are engaging to students, stimulating intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, presentation and resources.
·         Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
·         Participate in curriculum development programs as required
·         Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
·         Keep abreast of developments in their field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
·         Participate in standardization/verification and moderation of the subject as required.
Qualifications
·         A Bachelor’s Degree in Education with Sociology as a major subject or a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
·         Must be registered with Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
·         At least five years teaching experience.
·         Successful experience in teaching and learning.
·         Knowledge and understanding of current trends in teaching and learning practices.
·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to form effective relationships with all stakeholder groups.
