Internal Auditor
BUWASCO
is a County Public entity Registered under the Company’s Ad 2015 with the
responsibility of providing water and Sanitation Services to the residents of
Busia County as provided for under section 78 of the Water Act 2016. To fulfill
its mandate, BUWASCO invites applications from suitable and qualified Kenyan
citizens to fill the following positions:
Responsible
for the Internal Audit function of the Company to provide continuous appraisal
of the Company’s operations, systems against Internal Control System, policies,
procedures and manuals.
Responsibilities
·
Reports to the Audit Committee of the
Board and administratively to the Managing Director
·
Play a senior leadership role
bringing the internal community along to support the outputs delivered by
developing effective and strategic relationship.
·
Take responsibilities of reports
emerging from the department and all documentation sent to the MD Develop a
flexible annual audit plan, using an appropriate risk- based methodology and
including any risk or control concerns identified by management and submit that
plan to the Audit Committee for review and approval Issue periodic audit
reports summarizing results of audit activities
·
Keep the Board audit Committee and
the MD informed of emerging trends and changes in international standards on
the practice of Internal Auditing.

Coordinating and liaising with
external auditors of authority to ensure external audits and financial
reporting processes are efficient and effective
·
Conduct assessment exercises so as to
streamline the company’s performance and governance processes
·
Reviewing the internal control
framework and consistently ensuring its compliance
·
Performing related work as may be
required.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/
Finance, Economics, Engineering or Business related field or relevant field
from a recognized institution.
·
CPA (K) ACCA or relevant professional
qualification.
·
Member of a relevant professional
body with good standing.
·
At least 7 years of experience with
at least 3 years of Managerial/Supervisory experience
Technical Manager
Responsible
for Technical/and or Engineering function of the Company to ensure that the
core business is run in a professional way to attain highest standards of operational
efficiency and adherence to best practice and other engineering standards.
Responsibilities
·
Reporting to the Managing Director
·
Supervise Technical
Department/function staff. Ensuring compliance with established standards of
planning, design, construction and operation and maintenance of water and waste
water service facilities. Ensuring achievement of Key Performance Indicators in
line with sector benchmarks
·
Ensuring all technical operations
projects are carried out in accordance with approved budgets. Responsible for
development of frame work for department, management and maintenance of a water
distribution and sewer systems in the company’s area of operation.
·
Ensure all materials used in
operation meet required safety and quality standards not to compromise staff,
customer or public health and safety. Performing related work as may be
assigned.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s degree in Civil
Engineering Water/ Waste Water Engineering or relevant field from a recognized
institution.
·
Registered Engineer or eligible for
registration with the relevant professional body and member in good standing
·
At least 7 years of relevant
experience with a minimum of 3 years in Managerial or supervisory position.
Finance Manager
Responsible
for the finance function of the Company to perform financial analysis and
reporting as needed and as per the laid down procedures.
Responsibilities
·
Reports to the Managing Director
·
Oversee performance management in the
Company, Develop budget and work plan, Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly
and annual reports for the Company Prepare board management papers for approval
·
Identify procurement needs Prepare
and review Company policies and accounting manuals in line with international
financial standards and government regulations, Control expenditure for
decision making, deal with banks /financial institutions Budget
preparation/cash flow management review to ensure sustainability and giving
strategic advice to the Board/ CMT,
·
Conduct periodic review of actual
performance against budget and explaining any variances
·
Performing related work as may be
required.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor’s degree in Finance,
Accounting or any other business related field CPA (K) ACCA or relevant
professional qualification
·
Member of professional body and in
good standing At least 7 years’ experience with a minimum of 3 years in
Managerial supervisory position
Managing Director
Responsible
for efficient management of the affairs of the company, day to day operations
arid administration of the company in consultation with the Board. Shall
provide overall leadership to the company and guide strategic direction so as
to ensure effective achievement of set goals.
Responsibilities
·
Reports to the chairman of the Board
·
Supervise core management team.
·
Ensure formulation and implementation
of the company plans and strategies to ensure profitable operation
·
Formulate and periodically update the
corporate plan including projection of any necessary expansion and development
of water services facilities.
·
Ensure effective mobilization and
utilization of resources.
·
Ensure development and implementation
of sound Human Resource policies and procedures
·
Fostering a corporate culture that
promotes ethical practices and good corporate citizenship.
·
Provide oversight for all company
physical assets. Any other qualification as may be adjudged as relevant by the
board.
Qualifications
·
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in
civil engineering, water/waste water engineering, Environmental Science,
Business related field, Economics, Finance or relevant field from a recognized
institution.
·
Registered with the relevant
professional body and member in good standing.
·
At least 10 years relevant experience
with a minimum 5 years at senior level
