Position: Senior Project Manager

Our Client, an Engineering Development Company incorporated in Kenya and UAE with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya is urgently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Project Manager to plan and lead a wide range of construction projects from start to finish.
He/she will organize and oversee construction procedures, ensure they are completed on budget and within schedule. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants, client and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, budget other matters by performing the following duties;

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Monitor and ensure completion of projects on time
·         Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
·         Assist estimator in preparation of project budget and prepare the general conditions budget
·         Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
·         Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
·         Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
·         Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
·         Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
·         Acquire equipment, material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
·         Hire contractors, other staff and allocate responsibilities accordingly
·         Supervise the work of labourers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
·         Ensure adherence to all health & safety standards, enforce good construction standards, quality control and report issues
Key Competencies & Qualifications
·         Masters in Civil Engineering, Building Science or any other related field from a recognized institution
·         Practicing Licence/Certified by the Engineers Board of Kenya
·         Must have 15 – 20 years of experience as a Project Manager or relevant position on New-Building (commercial and industrial projects)
·         Worked with high end real estate development companies around the world, UAE or USA is an added advantage
·         In-depth understanding of construction procedures, material and project management principles
·         Experience in Building Engineering Consulting a plus
·         Familiarity with construction/ project management software
·         Must have expertise level in Construction Materials specifically buildings and roads/water systems

Position: Electrical Engineer
Location: Nairobi

Our Client, an Engineering Development Company incorporated in Kenya and UAE with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya is urgently looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer.
The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants, client and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in  accordance with the contract documents, schedule, budget other matters by performing the following duties;
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Responsible for developing high level design of reliable power systems or cooling systems as applicable to his field of expertise
·         Supports with preparing data center facility descriptions
·         Responsible for reviewing contract documents, e.g. construction contracts, drawings, studies, method statements, commissioning manual and procedures.
·         Able to participate in technical change management, e.g. review detailed method statements prepared by local operations staff and recommend improvements
·         Provide commissioning support to junior staff
·         Responsible for investigation, analysis and identification of the root cause of technical incidents
·         Regularly review operations and provide training within the data center
·         Equipment maintenance in data center: (Senior) Operates on managerial level in crisis situations with significant business impact, takes the lead of data center operations in order to control and solve technical and operational problems
·         Review change requests and method statements for approval by Head of Operations to ensure integrity of data center installations and to prevent business risk to customers
·         Develops technical solutions, as a technical expert, to meet customer requirements
·         Undertake research and provides high level designs for new data centers: Assesses potential data center locations and provides expert advice on the suitability of a location proposed for the development into a data center
·         Data center budgeting: Participate in preparation of CAPEX budget for data center expansion, upgrades and new builds
·         Project support data centers in construction: Reviews, comments and approves on key contractual documents, e.g. equipment specifications, engineering calculations, equipment settings, commissioning plan and commissioning scripts
·         Manage procurement of products: Assesses data centre needs for local equipment and obtains CAPEX approval as and when required, ensuring sign-off by relevant parties
·         Review and update Design and Engineering Requirements (DER): Periodically reviews and updates DER in response to field experience and technical development
·         Ensure data center operates with maximum efficiency: Delivers on PUE (Power Usage Efficiency) improvement program, taking into consideration efficiency and cost- savings, without compromising on safety and reliability
within data centers
Key Competencies & Qualifications
·         Masters/BSc (Hon) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with working knowledge in Electrical Engineering field from a recognized institution
·         Practicing License/Certified by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
·         Must have 10 years of experience as a Consulting Engineer
·         Design and Construction Electrical Supervision experience
·         Capable of running projects and a project team unsupervised
·         Familiar with Quality Control Systems – ISO experience benefit

Position: Site Engineer

He/she will act as the day to day manager of the construction site, the main source of technical advice and quality control for anyone working on it.
The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants, client and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and safely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule, budget other matters by performing the following duties;
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
·         Act as the main technical adviser on the construction site for sub-contractors, craftspeople and operatives
·         Manage, monitor and interpret the contract design documents supplied by the client or architect
·         Ensure all materials used and work performed is per with the specifications and standards
·         Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations
·         Communicate with clients and their representatives, including attending regular meetings and keeping them informed of project progress accompanied by well-prepared reports as required

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
·         To minimise the cost of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality. This includes ensuring statutory building regulations are met
·         Prepare estimates and costs of the work and when the project is in progress, keep track of any variations to the contract that may affect costs and create reports to show profitability
·         Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
