Mary’s Meals Kenya (MMK) operates a Primary School Feeding and Early Childhood Development programme in Kenya.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following post:
School Feeding Assistants – Turkana County
Reporting to the School Feeding Manager for Turkana, Mary’s Meals School Feeding Assistants (SFAs) will be responsible for the day to day monitoring and supervision of the school feeding programme and for training volunteers and other stakeholders, conducting community meetings and collection of programme data.

The SFAs will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the SFAs in ensuring that school-based activities are being carried out effectively and that surrounding communities are participating to acceptable standards.
The SFA will also play a link role between the school and community on the one hand and Mary’s Meals Kenya (MMK) on the other. This includes interfacing with community-based government curriculum support officers.
The positions will be field based in centres near to the schools where MMK is providing feeding programmes.
The principal duties will include, but will not be confined to, the following:
·         Carrying out routine daily monitoring, mentoring and coaching with weekly supervisions to schools.
·         Collecting programme data from schools and other relevant sources for programme management and decision making including routine data of enrolment, feeding rate, attendance, stock balances and annual school performance, entering them into the Mary’s Meals database, Big Book data capture template and Stock Tracker System.
·         Developing and submitting weekly, monthly and situation reports including case studies.
·         Supporting schools to deliver the feeding programme safely and hygienically including access to clean and safe water for cooking.
·         Identifying and dealing with school feeding emerging issues, gaps and efficiently/effectively reporting the same to management.
·         Supervising the management of stock and maintaining stock records and mentoring school best practices.
·         Facilitating the delivery of school feeding programme supplies and equipment to the schools and ensuring the ongoing maintenance and care of assets donated to schools.
·         Helping schools in organizing community participation through meetings with Parent Teacher Associations and School Board of Managements with composed School Feeding Sub-Committee.
·         Initiating, implementing and managing capacity building interventions for the volunteers, school feeding committees, head teachers and other committee as appropriate.
·         Supporting schools to establish and implement initiative(s) that will support sustainability of the programme.
·         Providing training to relevant stakeholders for the effective implementation of the feeding programme.
·         Carrying out field assignments and other related assignments as assigned by management from time to time.
·         Actively promote child rights and the safety of children and report any cases for concern regarding child protection.
·         Linking with other departments to ensure smooth flow of information for effective implementation of the programme.
·         Responsibility for the organization and proper handling of data including storage of data and information relating to the school feeding programme.
·         Ensuring that organization assets and equipment are taken care of.
·         Any other tasks reasonably requested for the implementation, management and development of the school feeding programme.
Minimum Requirements
·         Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KSCE).
·         Certificate or Diploma in Community development, sociology or related social science field will be an added advantage.
·         Fluency in spoken and written English.
·         2 years’ work experience in community development or related field preferably with an international NGO.
·         Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
·         A motorbike license and ability to ride a motorbike.
·         Ability to communicate in Turkana language
·         Willingness to be based in various field locations within Turkana County

School Feeding Manager– Turkana County
The school feeding manager s will support the Country programme leadership in providing effective and inspirational leadership for Mary’s Meals Kenya team. Helping in the general management and organisational development of Mary’s Meals Kenya in close collaboration with other senior members of staff.
The post holder will also collaborate with stakeholders at county, and community level in promoting Mary’s Meals vision, mission and values to ensure optimal programme implementation. S/he will also support strategic planning and programme development.
The position holder will collaborate with external stakeholders at county level and sometimes at National level.
The principal duties will include, but will not be confined to, the following:
·         Providing leadership and good example to School Feeding Assistants and other members of staff by ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures, organizational guidelines and policies in the implementation of the school feeding programme.
·         Supervise, coach and mentor school feeding assistants and others involved in the activities of MMK to ensure there is adequate capacity for the smooth implementation of the school feeding programme.
·         Supporting the Country programme leadership in developing an annual strategy and programme for Mary’s Meals Kenya including developing and preparing proposals and budgets for approval by Mary’s Meals senior officers and Board prior to submission to potential donors.
·         Collation of programme routine data of enrolment, feeding rate, attendance, stock balances and annual school performance from School feeding assistants entered into the Mary’s Meals database and Stock Tracker System for school feeding programme management and decision making including.
·         Providing regular and ad hoc reports, programme information to the Programme Manager, partners, donors and other bodies/individuals as required.
·         Ensuring that programme information required by the Programme Manager, Head office staff, other functional Managers and the Monitoring, Evaluation,
·         Accountability and Learning Team is given on time and responding to any problems, issues/ gaps in reporting.
·         Ensuring that all the School Feeding Assistants are managed in a pro-active and supportive manner to encourage high standards and best practice in all aspects of programme delivery.
·         In consultation with the Programme Manager and other functional managers assess and determine staff training and development needs and implement staff development plans which will include training in all key components of the programme.

·         Helping School Feeding Assistants in delivering trainings to schools and members of the community.
·         Lead in the gathering and analysis of information for programme expansion decisions.
·         Prepare new schools and communities for expansion of the school feeding programme.
·         Working alongside other NGOs, government and international partners to share best practice and further the interests and reach of Mary’s Meals, engaging strategically with the Government of Kenya and other major stakeholders in school feeding programmes.
·         Providing credibility and visibility to local community leaders and engaging in community capacity building and liaison with community leaders and volunteers to strengthen commitment to Mary’s Meals.
·         Representing Mary’s Meals in various meetings with collaborating partners at community, county and national levels.
·         Supporting visits from Mary’s Meals International staff and supporters.
·         Undertaking performance reviews and objective setting with School Feeding Assistants.
·         Orienting School Feeding Assistants on organisational policies and programme requirements, so as to achieve compliance.
·         Supporting the communication and fundraising component of the programme by providing information to colleagues at HQ in Glasgow through the Programme Manager
·         Any other duties commensurate with the role as assigned by the Programme Manager from time to time.
Minimum Requirements
·         A Degree in the fields of Education, Development Studies, Nursing, Public Health, Human Nutrition, Agriculture, Community Development or any other relevant field with demonstrable significant experience in a similar role
·         Well-developed skills in project/programme management.
·         Advanced and well-developed inter-personal skills, with solid track record in persuading and influencing others.
·         Community engagement skills
·         Strong leadership skills including the ability to be in control of delegated responsibilities.
·         An excellent team player able to work with senior and junior members of staff.
·         Fluent written and spoken English and Swahili.
·         Ability to communicate well across all levels
·         Able to work well with people of different cultures and nationalities.
·         Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel
·         Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
·         Ability to evaluate and analyse large of diverse data.
·         Excellent attention to detail.

Administration Assistant 
Two Positions
Reporting to the HR and Administration Manager, the administration assistants will be responsible for a variety of administrative, logistical and clerical tasks.
Duties of the Administration Assistant include providing support to our managers and employees, assisting in daily office needs and managing our organization’s general administrative activities.
One of the positions will be based in our Eldoret office and the other in the Lodwar office.
The principal duties will include, but will not be confined to, the following:
·         Give administrative support to other departments
·         Answer and direct phone calls
·         Organize and schedule appointment
·         Be responsible for general cleanliness and orderliness of the office
·         Take detailed minutes for all relevant meeting e.g. monthly staff meetings
·         Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters and forms
·         Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
·         Develop and maintain a proper filing system
·         Update and maintain office policies and procedures
·         Order office supplies and research new deals and suppliers
·         Maintain contact lists
·         Book travel arrangements (including booking of air tickets) for Mary’s Meals Kenya staff and international visitors
·         Provide general support to all MMK visitors
·         Act as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
·         Any other duties that may be assigned by the line manager
Minimum Requirements
·         Diploma or higher qualifications in a business-related discipline
·         Fluency in spoken and written English.
·         2 years’ work experience in a similar position preferably with an international NGO.
·         Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
