Mills Manager

KENCAFFEE EXPORT is a coffee export membership organization established by Kenya’s cooperative movement to create links between modest Kenyan coffee producers and the world market through a stable, efficient and transparent supply chain.

Job Description

We are looking for a results driven, innovative and strategic professional to lead the team at our coffee mill. If you have an aptitude for formulating and implementing strategic plans, a solid background in production management, excellent leadership skills and a desire to be part of a winning team, then this is the opportunity for you.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the role holder will be responsible for initiation and implementation of policies, develop strategies to achieve mission, vision and objectives of the company, administration, costs, human resources and mill operations.
Responsibilities
Specifically, the successful jobholder will be required to:
·         Provide leadership to the team in the mill through coaching, training and motivation with a focus on staff productivity.
·         Set priorities that reflect consistent interpretation of mission and goals of organization and translating priorities into action.
·         Ensure smooth operations in receiving, milling, storage and dispatch of coffee parchment as well as man power planning to facilitate quick turnaround time of coffee delivered to the mill.
·         Establish and nurture potential and existing relationships with key stakeholders in milling including regulators, buyers and suppliers.
·         Ensure that the premise and all its assets and stocks of coffee is fully secured and insured against potential loss and deterioration.
·         Ensure that quality, health and safety guidelines are strictly followed to mitigate possible accidents and that the mill meets environmental quality tests.
·         Champion and deliver world class customer service by ensuring quality service delivery for customers within the company’s Service Level Agreements.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be required to have the following skills and competencies:
·         University Degree in agriculture or related field from a recognized University with at least three years working experience in coffee milling.

·         Excellent planning and organization skills as well as excellent communication skills both oral and written.
·         A strategic thinker with proven ability to lead high performing teams.
·         Personal organization and thoroughness coupled with the ability to work under minimum supervision with good Judgment skills.
·         Result driven with a track record of demonstrable networking, selling and negotiation skills as well as ability to identify new opportunities.

Stores Clerk
Job Description
Reporting to the GM – KCCD, the role holder will, be responsible for receiving, storage and dispatching of green coffee, value added coffee, instant coffee, packaging material, assets and record keeping.
Responsibilities
The successful jobholder will be expected to:
·         Receive coffee from marketers and ensure the volume of coffee purchased and delivered are the same.
·         Maintain record of green coffee in storage i.e. dispatching green coffee for roasting and receive value added coffee into the store from production department.
·         Dispatch coffee to the buyers and retail outlets on request by sales team and ensure that necessary documentation for receipts are availed during dispatch.
·         Ensure re-order levels of coffee for value added are maintained and ensure packaging material are adequate to meet production demands.
·         Maintain received, storage and dispatch records for packaging material and ensure accurate stock volumes of coffee and packaging with the records.
·         Ensure that quality, health and safety guidelines are strictly followed to mitigate possible accidents.
·         Ensure cost effective methods of storage and dispatch as well as ensuring cost cutting by minimising on wastes.
·         Ensure all assets of the company which include fixed assets, cash, keys, spares, are secure.
Qualifications

The successful jobholder will be required to possess the following qualifications:-
·         Degree in procurement or a business related field with at least two years’ experience in store keeping/procurement.
·         Diploma in Purchasing & Supplies or Advanced Certificate in Purchasing & Supplies will be an added advantage.
·         Excellent planning and organization skills as well as excellent communication skills with the ability to work under pressure and deliver on time with minimum supervision.
·         A basic understanding of business transactions and a high level of attention to detail.
·         An ability to develop and nurture strategic business relationships.
