Position: Clinical
Officer
(1 Position)
MR 7

Location: Homabay
Reporting to: Clinical Research Coordinator, Homabay
Job Summary: This position provide quality health care services to study
participants through diagnosing, investigating and treating patients and
participate in research activities to improve human health
Essential Requirements:
·
Must have a Diploma in clinical
medicine, A higher diploma in paediatrics from a recognized institution is an
added advantage
·
Computer literacy,
·
Knowledge of relevant legislation
·
Knowledge of professional standards
·
License from clinical officer council
of Kenya
·
Must be registered with relevant
professional body and in possession of a valid practicing license
·
At least one years of clinical trial
experience
·
Training in Good Clinical Practices
and Paediatric Life Support are added advantages
Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Take history from the patients and
examine in order to make appropriate diagnosis
·
Interpret laboratory results to make
proper diagnosis
·
Perform minor surgical procedures to
patients to ensure well-being.
·
Counsel patients in health related
matters for psychological healing.
·
Prescribe drugs to patients to ensure
they get the required treatment.
·
Network with other units to ensure
quick services to the patients.
·
Screen and identify potentially
eligible participants
·
Administer informed consent to study
participants so that they can make informed choice
·
Completion of case report form and
enter data for research analysis
·
Develop Proposal for grants sourcing
·
Review proposal and manuscript for
approval within the Centre.
·
Provide input in budget preparation
for the project to ensure proper allocation of financial resources.
Terms of Employment: Employment is on a one year, fixed-term contract with a
probation period for the first 3 months.
Salary is negotiable within the
appropriate KEMRI salary scale depending on education, experience and
demonstrated competency.
Position: Data Analyst
(1 Position)

Reporting to: Data
manager
Job Summary: The
incumbent will be responsible for performing various data management, data
entry and data cleaning, processing and analysis functions in an accurate and
timely fashion.
Essential Requirements:
·
Must hold a Diploma in Computer
science, Information Technology, information management systems (IMIS),
biostatistics or related field.
·
Minimum of three years’ work
experience in a busy data processing, management and analysis
·
Background of handling data from
clinical trials or laboratory will be an added advantage
·
Excellent knowledge and working
experience of at least one statistical analysis package (SAS, STATA, and SPSS)
and database software (Excel, SQL Server 2005, Ms Access) especially
longitudinal relationalized database management system
·
Experience in managing and ensuring
data quality
·
Experience working with any
electronic data collection systems in clinical settings will be an added
advantage
Duties and Responsibilities:
·
Participate in design of data
collection tools
·
Participate in data entry, retrieval,
data cleaning, analysis and interpretation
·
Carry out data downloading and
uploading from mobile devices such as Smartphones
·
Data entry into the Remote Data Entry
system
·
Collate, query and clean data coming
in from the field sites including flagging out inconsistencies and/or errors
arising from data obtained from the field as part of routine data checks
·
Conduct data quality
control/assurance activities
·
Perform various data manipulations
and analyses
·
Work with other team members and
investigators on various analyses as requested
·
Generate reports from analyses and
generate tables as needed
·
Perform additional duties as may be
assigned by their supervisor
·
