Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Editor, the Assignment Editor will be responsible for the following: –
·         Oversees news gathering process (Editorial Desk & ENG Reporters) and logistics for all of our news platforms.

·         Takes strong lead in breaking news coverage and pre-packaged stories/ features.
·         Aggressively coordinate how enterprise stories are sought including actualizing documentaries or mini-documentaries.
·         Ensures that the Editorial Desk monitors social media and builds content for our web site and other socialmedia handles.
·         Reacts aggressively and decisively to breaking news with or without management present bearing in mind our target audience.
·         Builds strong sources in the community.
·         Co-ordinate the Editorial Desk, anchors and reporters.
·         Working closely with the Editorial Desk and ENG reporters on angles to stories as they develop and packaged features.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have a proven experience as an Assignment Editor or relevant role with at least 5 years’ experience in a newsroom and at least 2 as an assignment editor.
Skills
·         Graduate in Journalism / Mass Communication or related field

Reporting to the Managing Editor, the ENG REPORTER will be responsible for the following:
Responsibility:
·         Generating ideas for stories and features and following leads from news agencies, the police, the public, press conferences and other sources
·         Pitching ideas to editors
·         Researching, verifying and collating evidence and information to support a story using relevant information sources such as the internet, archives, databases, etc.
·         Selecting appropriate locations, pictures and sound and exercising editorial judgment on the best angle from which to approach a story
·         Identifying necessary resources and deploying and managing technical crews for location shoots, including camera crew
·         Providing directorial input, advising crews on what to film or record
·         Producing complete packages for broadcast
·         Preparing and presenting material for both pre-recorded and live piece
·         Identifying potential interviewees, briefing them, preparing interview questions and conducting both live and recorded interviews
·         Collaborating with the editor to put together the completed program or item
·         Developing and maintaining local contacts and assuming a public relations role
Requirements
·         3 years of TV editor, producer or reporter position; experience in filming, editing and producing news
·         Graduate in Journalism or Communications
·         A thorough knowledge of news and current affairs in the Kenya, Africa and internationally
·         Strong writing skills, and ability to convey information in a clear, concise and conversational manner
·         Excellent live reporting skills and strong on-camera presentation skills
·         Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
·         Ability to interact professionally and build relationships and sources
·         Ability to shoot and edit digital video

Qualifications
The ideal candidates must possess a Degree in Computer science or any other technical related field with at
·         least 3 years of TV studio IT system operation, experience in video and audio technology
·         Familiarity with video/audio and broadcast IT system design concept and equipment
·         Familiarity in Non-linear Editing, storage and archive systems
·         A good understanding of video and audio file and compression formats
·         Extensive knowledge in IP network design and administration
·         Windows/Linux server-client system administration skills and experience
