Teller II

Jamii Sacco is a membership Cooperative Society registered under the Cooperative Societies Act Cap 490 (Amended 2004) of the laws of Kenya and licensed by SASRA.
The objectives for which the Society was established are to organize and promote the quality of life of the members by providing quality financial products and services.
The following position is vacant and the Sacco would like to fill it:
Job Type: Contract – 3 Years

Job Purpose
Reporting to Officer FOSA, the job holder is responsible for managing the till to pay and receive cash from member contributions for either deposits or loan repayments and effectively handle customer transactions, delivering excellent client service and maximizing client solutions.

Roles

·         Receive cheques and cash for deposit to various accounts, verify amounts, examine cheques for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into the core banking system.
·         Cash cheques and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and member balances.
·         Receive cash, loan repayments and other payments and ensure accuracy when posting.
·         Paying members against proper documentation.
·         Updating member accounts accurately.
·         Attending to member’s enquiries promptly.
·         Reconciliation of cash transactions on a daily basis.
·         Ensuring cheques and cash are banked and input into the system.
·         Maintain and update treasury register.
·         Promote the Sacco’s products and handle queries raised at the counter.
·         Prepare teller reconciliation report.
·         Return the balance of cash to the Treasury before close of day’s business.
·         Promote, explain issues and cross-sell of other SACCO services and products.
·         Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
·         Balance cash till at the end of business, compare total amounts to computer generated balance sheet and verify to resolve discrepancies.
·         Report any discrepancy to the supervisor as necessary

Qualifications

·         Diploma in Business related course, Finance or Banking and a minimum of CPA I.
·         A minimum of two years working experience in a related field.

·         Police clearance certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct)
·         Tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
·         Clearance certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
·         Clearance certificate from Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
