Assistant Manager (Materials)

Agro-Chemical and Food Company Limited is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Spirits, Bakers’ Yeast and CO2 located in Muhoroni in Western Kenya. We are looking for qualified, experienced and self-driven Kenyans with excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, report writing and ICT skills to fill the following positions:
Reporting to Purchase and supplies Manager

Roles

Key Result Areas (KRAs):
·         In-charge of main stores and warehouses.
·         Initiate orders for all essential stock items including factory production materials, spares and consumables such as fuels, chemicals, lubricants, bags, industrial gases, etc
·         Ensure prudent management of the company’s petrol stations, accountability of credit sales to customers, transporters and all company fleet.
·         Ensure all materials brought into the company for use in all departments are properly documented.
·         Ensure goods received are properly stored before they are issued to user departments.
·         Ensure all stores issue notes are correctly priced, recorded in the stores ledgers and released weekly to accounts for costing and posting to the general ledger.
·         Undertake mini and annual stocktaking exercise to determine the physical existence of stores stock/finished goods and release such results to finance department for external audits and final accounts and perform monthly stock reconciliation exercise
·         Produce daily and monthly stock reports to users and management
·         Prepare progress and annual reports showing achievement of the stores function and providing justification for performance variances

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related business discipline.
·         Postgraduate diploma in purchasing and supplies or its equivalent.
·         Registered member of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) or Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supplies (CIPS) or its equivalent.
·         Minimum of 7 years’ experience with at least 5 in senior management level in a manufacturing environment.
·         Possess good knowledge of public procurement laws and regulations.
·         Possess working knowledge of SAP 1 (ERP) and IFMIS E-procurement platform.

Reporting to Board of Directors/ Resident Director & Chief Executive

Roles

Key Result Areas (KRAs):
·         Arranging for Board meetings, preparation of agenda for Board meetings and preparation of the documentation required for Board meetings.
·         Taking and compiling of minutes of the Board in a timely manner and ensuring their circulation & custody.
·         Communicating resolutions of the Board, through Resident Director to officers for appropriate action.
·         Reviewing contracts and leases drawn by third parties
·         Advising and ensuring compliance with legal and statutory requirements.
·         Providing guidance and advice on matters of ethics and good governance.
·         Facilitating adequate legal representation through the Company’s legal panel.

Specifications:

·         Holder of a least a first degree from a recognized university.
·         Be a Certified Secretary of Kenya (CSK).
·         Registered member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) of good standing.
·         Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from recognized university will be an added advantage.
·         Minimum 7 years’ experience with at least 5 in senior management level.

Reporting to Resident Director & Chief Executive.

Roles

Key Result Areas:
·         Plan, program, coordinate, and control activities of manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering and environment departments to maximize production of alcohol, baker’s yeast and other products of acceptable quantity and quality as efficiently and effectively as possible through proper utilization of staff, equipment and technology.
·         Provide technical leadership to a multidisciplinary team to enable them to develop, implement and evaluate strategic management plans and budgets aimed at improving performance standards and organizational effectiveness.
·         Advise the Chief Executive on changes in production, operations, instrumentation, quality assurance, environmental issues, additional capacity (projects) which may be necessary for optimization of production.
·         Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against set targets and objectives and implementing development action plans aimed at building capacity of individuals and multidisciplinary teams.
·         Innovate, guide and promote energy conservation and cost optimization initiatives.

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in Food science & Technology, Chemical & Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
·         Master’s degree in strategic management from a recognized university will be an added advantage.
·         Minimum of 9 years’ experience with at least 5 in senior management level in a manufacturing environment.
·         Registered member of the Institute of Food Technologists, Engineers Board of Kenya, Institute of Engineers of Kenya or equivalent of good standing.
