The Export Promotion Council is a State Corporation established on 19th August 1992 by the Government through Legal Notice No. 4342, with the mandate of developing and promoting Kenyan exports with its Headquarters in Nairobi and two Regional Offices in Eldoret and Mombasa.


We are looking for a self -driven individual to fill the following vacancy as detailed below: –
Chief Manager (Product, Market Development and Promotion)
 EPC Grade 2
(1 Position)
Terms of Employment: Four (4) Years Contract Renewable Once Subject to Performance
Job Description
The role of this position is to guide on product development and building exporters capacity and also promoting and developing Kenya’s export market.
Job Descriptions will entail: –
i. Providing leadership in the identification of priority needs of the exporting community and the development and implementation of National Export Market Development Programme;
ii. Collaborating with trade support networks for optimal facilitation of export business;
iii. Overseeing activities related to assessment of existing export market opportunities, and implementation of strategies to penetrate and sustain new markets, and consolidate market shares in traditional markets.
iv. Providing interface with all partner organizations in the export promotion field, determining the working relations and establish MOUs in order to enhance cooperation and optimize use of resources;
v. Acting as the focal point concerning relations with Kenya’s Commercial Attachés and the Division of External Trade of MT&I on export trade development and promotion activities.
vi. Organizing trade fairs and exhibitions to create awareness and arranging trade missions and buyer-seller meetings;
vii. Developing export marketing plans, establish priorities and maintain an overall view of Kenya’s export promotion constraints and problems;
viii. Develop and strengthen relationships with County Governments and regional authorities with the objective of promoting product and enterprise development at the County level.
ix. Developing and overseeing overall product development and test marketing strategy and tactical plans for the successful product launch into the identified export market;
x. Facilitating the integration of MSMEs including youths, women and special groups into the export sector through capacity building programs.
xi. Managing stakeholder’s relationships in implementation of enterprise and product development programs and collaborating with them in identifying and addressing product market access requirements
xii. Developing strategies that facilitate product innovation and development;
xiii. Undertaking fact finding missions to identify best practices, appropriate technology and market dynamics to help develop market led products. Coordinating development and implementation of annual budgets and work-plans for the department.
xiv. Continuously reviewing the skills requirements and developing relevant training programmes for the department in liaison with head of human resource management division.
xv. Coordinating and supervising the work of the department’s staff and enforcing Council’s systems and procedures for monitoring, evaluating and appraising performance.
Appointment Specifications
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-
(i) A minimum period of twelve (12) years relevant work at least eight (8) years’ experience in a management position
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, International Trade, SME development, Food Science & Technology, Textiles & Apparels Design, Leather Design or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
(iii) Master’s Degree in any of the following: Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, International Trade, SME development, Food Science & Technology, Textiles & Apparels Design, Leather Design or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
(iv) Professional qualification and membership, where applicable.
(v) Certificate in Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
(vi) Good communication and analytical skills;
(vii) Project planning and management skills
(viii) Proficiency in computer applications

(ix) Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution
(x) Demonstrated competence in work performance.

Senior Officer (Product, Market Development and Promotion Officer)
EPC Grade 5 
(2 Positions)
Terms of Employment: Permanent and Pensionable
Job Description
(i) Conducting county baseline surveys to identify MSMEs with products that have good potential for development into exportable products
(ii) Profiling enterprises with potential exportable products for selection into the product development and value addition programmes
(iii) Participating in researching on the key competitor and consumer trends in the target markets and on concepts and technology required for new product development or for improvement of the existing ones
(iv) Assisting in developing proper product pricing strategies to enable Kenyan products be competitive in the export market
(v) Participating in identifying capacity gaps among the MSMEs producers/exporters and helping to recommend appropriate interventions for implementation
(vi) Collecting product related information, feedback and inquiries from buyers and potential buyers for sharing and dissemination to MSMEs producers and exporters
(vii) Assisting in developing and implementing MSMEs training and support programmes with special emphasis to the marginalized, women and youth groups
(viii) Assisting in developing and maintaining an accurate up to date database on MSMEs product development and of existing enterprises trained in the export business, keeping track and creating additional growth opportunities among the enterprises
(ix) Participating and implementing exporters training programs to enhance exporting skills and in the mentorship programmes for MSMEs exporters through exchange visits to learn best practices
(x) Assisting in developing and implementing follow up programs for trained exporters
(xi) Assisting in generating period reports on product and enterprise development activities
Appointment Specifications
For appointment to this grade an officer must have: –
(i) A minimum period of eight (5) years’ experience in product and enterprise development, promotion , export marketing and market surveys
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, International Trade, SME development, Food Science & Technology, Textiles & Apparels Design, Leather Design or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
(iii) Professional qualification and membership, where applicable.
(iv) Good communication and analytical skills;
(v) Proficiency in computer applications;
(vi) Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution;
(vii) Demonstrated competence in work performance.
