Senior Management Recruitment

Sheria SACCO Society Ltd is a Savings and credit cooperative society formally registered in 1972 with a growing membership of over 10,000 members pooled from the Judiciary, AG chambers, various Government Ministries, Business persons and anyone above the age of 18 years with an income.
The Society is a medium sized deposit taking Sacco licensed by SASRA with total assets in excess of 5 billion Kenya Shillings, mandated to mobilize savings and give credit to its members.
The Sacco’s vision is to be the preferred financial services provider, empowering members economically through mobilization of resources and provision of competitive products and services.
In pursuit of its transformative agenda the Society is seeking to recruit a dynamic, ambitious, and result-oriented individual to join the executive team, in the following position:
Head of Finance & Strategy
Job Ref: HFS/01/2018
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will plan, develop, and implement all the Organization’s financial management activities.
S/he will support the Chief Executive Officer in ensuring the SACCO’s strategic plan is well executed enabling the organization meets its objectives.
Responsibilities will include:
·         Formulate the strategic operational objectives for the department in line with the overall corporate plan and ensure execution of the same.
·         Lead the Finance team members to deliver all planned and agreed department and individual performance targets to ensure that the various sections are efficient and value adding to the Society.
·         Regulate, supervise, and implement a timely, complete and accurate set of accounting books of the Society reflecting all its activities in a manner commensurate with the relevant legislation and regulation and internal guidelines set from time to time by the Board of Directors.
·         Prepare timely financial statements and reports as required by all pertinent laws and regulations deemed necessary and demanded from time to time by the Board of Directors.
·         Coordinate effective treasury management to ensure effective cash flow and cash flow analysis.
·         Prepare, control and monitor the Society’s revenue, capital, and expenditure budget to facilitate translation into action of the strategic and operation plans of the Society.
·         Create and maintain strong financial discipline by planning, controlling and reporting on the Society financial performance to the Board of directors and the senior management team on a monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually.
·         Ensure compliance with financial procedures and policies of the Society
·         Liaise with External Auditors and SASRA to ensure that all financial transactions are compliant with existing regulatory instruments and accounting standards.
·         To alert the executive management team and to warn it regarding any irregularity, lack of compliance, lack of adherence, whether actual or potential concerning the financial systems, the financial operations, the financing plans, the accounting, the audits, the budgets, and any other matter of a financial nature or which could or does have a financial implication.
·         Maintain a good working relationship with members, banks, financial institutions, and capital markets with the aim of securing the funds necessary for the operations of the Society, the attainment of its development plans and its investments.
·         Work with the CEO in formulation, implementation and monitoring of the society strategic plan.
Key qualifications, knowledge, and experience required:
·         Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage;
·         Qualified CPA (K) or ACCA holder;
·         Membership of professional finance/accounting bodies e.g. ICPAK;
·         Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a vibrant organization, two of which must be in a senior management position progressively within a busy finance, accounting, strategic planning department;
·         Have expert business knowledge and proficiency in financial management, analytical research, leadership, corporate communication, and strategic planning;
·         High standards of professionalism and integrity;
·         Advanced written and oral communication skills

Chief Executive Officer
Ref: CEO/03/2018
Reporting directly to the Board, the incumbent will develop and deliver business and people strategies, which support the Sacco’s overall strategic aims and objectives. S/he will lead management in creation of a stable and supportive environment within which, S/he will manage and grow the society business ensuring strategy execution.
Responsibilities will include:
·         Actively lead and influence the development, implementation, and achievement of the current and future strategic and operational plans.
·         Reporting to the Board on economic and industry indicators, and other relevant factors, which may influence their judgment in the formulation or modification of policy;

·         Ensure that the Executive Leadership Team, models and builds a culture of internal excellence at all levels;
·         Carrying out effectively the policies laid down by the Board of Directors, and ensuring that the policies are well understood and complied with by all members of the Sacco;
·         Lead the achievement of the Sacco’s financial goals as per the approved Society plan and consistently meeting the key performance Indicators;
·         Ensure the adequacy and soundness of the company’s financial structure; reviewing all capital expenditure requests and arrangements for additional finance-funds;
·         Ensuring that adequate provision is made for keeping abreast of new technological and commercial developments pertinent to the Sacco’s field of operation and within approved budgets;
·         Ensure that Human Resources of Sheria Sacco are effectively managed in terms of selection and recruitment, incentives and motivation, disciplines in line with Human Resource strategy of the Sacco;
·         Provide credible and agile leadership to the senior management Team, ensuring that they actively participate in the Team, contribute to the strategic thinking and development of the Sacco, and demonstrate integrity, respect, moral ethics, sound judgement, and positive leadership, in all their duties and interactions;
·         Lead the achievement of the customer service standards agreed annually and ensure the leadership, dissemination, understanding and delivery of customer centric services across the Sacco;
·         Partnership & Stakeholder Management & Development – Work closely with the Board and the senior management team to establish and review strategic priorities for key partnerships;
·         Ensuring a strong Risk, Compliance and Governance Framework is embedded across the organization;
·         Ensure that the right skills, mind-sets, and systems are in place to continuously assess and mitigate principal risks of the Sacco.;
·         Fostering an audit, risk management and compliance culture ensuring compliance with legislation and regulatory bodies is monitored;
·         Risk and Audit functions of the Organization must operate independently with that of business with regular independent reporting to the Board Audit & Risk Committee.
·         Works closely with the chairperson to ensure that the focus of Board Meetings is on the right issues, information is available in a timely and effective manner and the best advice and counsel are drawn from Board members during meetings and as required throughout;
·         Engage and give back to communities we operate in, in terms of Sheria Sacco’s Corporate and Social Responsibility Values.
Key qualifications, knowledge, and experience required:
·         Bachelor’s degree in Business development related field. A master’s degree will be an added advantage;
·         Membership of relevant professional bodies e.g. ICPAK, MSK, IHRM, ICPSK etc.
·         Minimum of 12 years’ experience in vibrant organizations, 5 of which must be in a senior management position;
·         Demonstrate expert business knowledge and proficiency in financial management, business development, institutional leadership, corporate communication, and strategic planning;
·         High standards of professionalism and integrity;
·         Advanced written and oral communication skills

Head of BOSA
Ref: HBOSA/02/2018
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the incumbent will coordinate the operations and activities of BOSA and ensure that revenue targets from back office operations are achieved in line with the Corporate Plan.
Responsibilities will include:
·         Formulate the strategic operational objectives for the department in line with the overall corporate plan and ensure execution of the same.
·         Lead the BOSA operations team to deliver all planned and agreed department and individual performance targets to ensure that the department is efficient and value adding to the Society.
·         In consultation with the CEO and other function heads, formulate the credit policy and ensure adherence to the same.
·         Product development in liaison with the marketing team to ensure relevant member products are rolled out keeping in pace changing member needs and wants.
·         Monitor the performance of the loans and ensure proper management of loan recovery process.
·         Evaluate Credit performance and make appropriate recommendations to CEO and Credit Committee on policy matters.
·         Respond to all the audit queries raised about the operations of the department
·         Prepare monthly management and Board BOSA performance reports.
Key qualifications, knowledge, and experience required:
·         Bachelor’s degree in Business development related field. A master’s degree will be an added advantage;
·         Membership of relevant professional bodies.
·         Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a vibrant organization, two of which must be in a senior management position progressively within a customer facing, service or business department;
·         Demonstrate expert business knowledge and proficiency in customer management, product and service delivery, leadership, corporate communication, and strategic planning;
·         High standards of professionalism and integrity;
·         Advanced written and oral communication skill
