Job Title: Business Analyst

Job Purpose / Summary: The Wananchi Group (WGK) is Africa’s pioneering provider of Triple Play (broadband, multi-channel television and voice telephony) and direct-to-home (DTH) satellite PayTV.
The position will be responsible for the preparation and dissemination of management accounts, weekly and monthly reports of the group to the board of directors.
The position reports to the Group CFO, but will work closely with other managers within the Group.
Key Roles:
Financial Planning, Forecasting and Budgeting
·         Preparing annual budgets, reviewing performance against budget and querying any material variance.
·         Examine the budget estimates or proposals for completeness, accuracy and conformance with established procedures, regulations, and organizational objectives
·         Periodically monitor the budget by reviewing reports and accounting records to determine if allocated funds have been spent as specified
·         Examine past and current budgets and research economical and financial developments that affects the organization’s spending
·         Coordinate the budgeting process within the various functions
·         Responsible for communicating with management about budget issues concerning their functions
·         Ensure active budgeting process and application throughout the company
Business Analysis & Modelling
·         Develop a costing model for the group
·         Undertake business modeling projects as requested
·         Plan and organize own and team work projects to meet defined objectives and deliverables set by the Directors
·         Evaluating adhoc projects
Controls and Financial Reporting
·         Manage end month closure and reporting of KPI’s
·         Prepare monthly Management pack
·         Respond to audit query both internal and external auditors
·         Prepare balance sheet schedules
Key Performance Indicators:
·         Completion of budget process and seek approval before the year end
·         Monthly closure by WD2
·         Completion of Management pack by WD5
·         Balance Sheet Review and filling by WD10
·         Clean and reconciled balance sheet
Education, Experience and Skills
·         Minimum Bachelors degree in accounting or finance. CFA or CPA qualification preferred
·         Above average level of computer literacy and skills;
·         At least 5yrs post graduation working experience long-range financial plans, return on investment calculations;
·         Experience in preparing Power Point presentations is essential;
·         Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills
·         Excellent analytical skills and aptitude for problem solving, including data analysis and validation
·         Excellent time management/organizational skills


Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant
Department: Finance and Admin
Location: Nairobi
Employment Status:Permanent
Position Reporting to: Tax Manager
Manages Others: No
Job Purpose / Summary: The tax accountant position is accountable for the collection of tax-related information, advising management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies and doing tax compliance.
Key Roles:
·         Devise tax strategies to defer or eliminate tax payments
·         Complete required tax reporting in a timely manner
·         Prepare and update tax provision schedules
·         Coordinate audits by various taxation authorities
·         Research and correct process errors that caused incorrect tax filings
·         Negotiate with tax authorities over tax payment issues
·         Research the basis for tax positions to be taken
·         Advise management regarding the tax impact of corporate strategies
·         Advise management on the impact of new laws on tax liabilities

·         Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work
·         Assist in tax review of contracts
·         Prepare estimated tax payments.
·         Perform year-end accrual review and prepare the tax provision.
·         Prepare various countries income tax computations including deferred tax and Income Tax returns.
·         Prepare/Review other various tax filings: Withholding Tax, VAT, PAYE, Excise Duty etc.
·         Keep abreast of current developments in the tax area.
·         Assist in financial planning and analysis.
·         Identify and mitigate tax risks

Qualifications & Attributes:
·         Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business from a recognized institution
·         CPA (K) or ACCA certification
·         Minimum of 6 years post qualification experience.
·         Previous experience with an audit firm will be an added advantage
·         Fluency in English, able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
·         Thorough knowledge of the East African tax practice and tax legislations plus have an awareness of constantly emerging issues
·         A high level of proficiency in KRA’s iTax platform
·         A high ethical and professional standing.
·         Pro-activeness and a strong focus on the delivery of set targets.
·         Ability to be creative and bring new ideas to the role and function.
·         A positive attitude and passion to excel


Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Department: Technical
Location: Gateway Park

Position Reporting to:Maintenance Supervisor
Job Purpose / Summary: Maintenance technicians will be responsible for tasks related with plant network maintenance on both HFC and GPON networks, including preventive plant maintenance with necessary record keeping and location/repair of equipment/plant failures. There will be some limited service work with customer maintenance calls.
Key Roles:
·         Operates equipment such as hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets) and ladders
·         Perform construction and maintenance works such as digging holes, placing poles, placing cable. Unreel, pull and string wire strand and cable from pole to pole, pole to buildings including associated equipment and hardware
·         Repair or restore service during any outage while observing and respecting the SLAs, advising NOC on the causes of the outage and estimated times to repair including the possible solution.
·         Perform preventive maintenance tasks on the network, including among others Coax and Optical Fiber cables installation, removal, lashing, HFC passive equipment installation/removal and repair, HFC active equipment installation, removal and repair
·         Work with tools, equipment and cable that may be heavy which will have to be loaded and unloaded from company vehicle, moved or rearranged
·         Perform preventive maintenance on forward and return path of Coax cable television distribution network, signal measuring on Coax and Optical Fiber networks, network patrol, network and equipment audit
·         Track and repair signal interferences our signal leakages on the network in coordination with NOC teams
·         Prepare and splice both coax and fiber optic cable
·         Maintain cable system power supplies, including battery banks measurements and replacement
·         Address maintenance tasks escalated from subscriber technical teams, including assessing and resolving signal level issues
·         Produce and maintain all records related with assigned tasks
·         Respond to customer inquiries about products, work operations, etc. during field contacts.
·         Report any issues, problems or recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor in order to maintain the integrity and performance of the service
Key Performance Indicators:
·         Compliance on Time to Repair SLA’s as defined by the company policies
·         Driver’s license
·         Considerable knowledge and skill in regards to HFC and GPON networks, related tools and materials and safety standards required in the installation and maintenance and repair of the HFC and GPON cable network and all services delivered by the system.
·         Good mechanical aptitude and ability to work with various hand and power tools.
·         Be in good physical condition and possess sufficient strength and agility required to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
·         Reasonable knowledge of the necessary safety precautions to be taken in working from heights and elevated platforms.
·         Three years of HFC and/or GPON cable networks, including network construction and maintenance preferred
·         Strong understanding of electronic theory related to HFC and telecommunications industry
