Architect

SCALE 14 (1 POSITION) MU/ADM/01/06/2018
University Architect – Scale 14 (xiv) – Min of Ksh.170, 681/= p.m. – Max of Ksh.189,813/= p.m.
The Principal Architect will be the Head the Architectural Section. He/she will be responsible for monitoring of expenditure on the University Building Programmes; the officer will also be incharge of a number of multidisciplinary working groups employed in the design and construction of various types of University buildings. In addition, the officer will be required to co-ordinate the preparation of forward budget, draft and revised development estimates for development projects.
Duties will also entail dealing with policy matters of architectural nature originating from University, University Campuses, research and private consultants, faculties, departments, government ministries; manpower training projections; Council matters, maintenance of discipline and matters relating to the day to day administrative problems of the section. In the absence of the Development Officers, the Principal Architect will be the Head of the entire Development Department.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
·         served in the grade of Senior Architect or in a comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
·         been in possession of the full professional qualifications including registration by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors; of Kenya;
·         been a member of a recognized Professional Society;
·         a thorough knowledge of computer;
·         demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
·         Must have a Masters Degree in Architecture, Urban/Physical Planning or Business Administration
·         A PhD would be an added advantage

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
·         must have served in the Government or a large professional organization for a minimum period of (12) years.
·         Should have a masters degree in any Architectural disciplines
·         Must be registered by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors

Chief Flight Instructor

Requirements

Applicants for this position must:
·         Holds a Bachelor`s Degree in relevant field with a minimum of second Class Upper Division from a University recognized by Moi University Senate;
·         Meet the requirements of The Civil Aviation (Approved Training Organizations)
·         Regulations, 2013,third Schedule, part B(2);
·         Holds a valid commercial Pilot License or Airline Transport Pilot License;
·         Holds a valid qualified Flight Instructor Rating with a minimum of 500 hours instructional time;
·         Be rated on Cessna 152 and Cessna 182;
·         Holds a valid Multi-Engine Instrument Rating;
·         Have held a senior position in an Approved Training Organization for at least 3 years;

Chief Security Officer
SCALE 12(1 POSITION) –MU/ADM/03/06/2018

Chief Security officer – Scale 12 (xii) – Min of Kshs.94, 347/= p.m. – Max of Kshs. – 131,736/=p.m.
The Chief Security Officer will be in charge of the Department of Security and Safety, in overall management, direction, control and co-ordination of Security Operations at the University.
Specifically, duties and responsibilities will involve liaising with Police on security matters and following up court cases; ensuring effective security is maintained for the protection of university property, staff and students. Other duties will involve co-ordination of training and development of staff in the Department.

Qualifications

For direct appointment to this Grade an offiCER
·         Assist the Head of Training and Chief Flight Instructor in developing curricula;
·         Instruct students in a classroom setting;
·         Conduct training flights;
·         Determine student proficiency;
·         Report on student progress;
·         Develop new teaching methods; and
·         Perform any other assigned duties by the Chief Flight Instructor or Head of Training.

Requirements

Applicants for this position must;
·         Holds at least KCSE mean grade C+ or `O’ level KCE – Div. II or its equivalent;
·         Meet the requirements of The Civil Aviation (Approved Training Organizations) Regulations, 2013,third schedule, part B (3);
·         Holds a valid Commercial Pilot License or Airline Transport Pilot License;
·         Holds a valid Qualified Flight Instructor Rating with a minimum of 200 hours instructional time:
·         Be rated on any one of the University`s aircraft;
·         Have a good interpersonal and communication skills be technically competent and a person of integrity, be impartial in carrying out tasks, be tactful, have good understanding of human nature and possess ability to get along with other people; and
·         A valid Multi-Engine Instrument Rating will be an added advantage.


Fire Officer
SCALE 9 (1 POSITION) -MU/ADM/05/06/2018
Fire Officer – Scale 9 (xi) – Min of Ksh.94, 347/= p.m. – Max of Kshs. 131,736/=p.m.
An officer at this level will be responsible for technical and operational control of all fire fighting, fire prevention and protection services. The main duties will include maintenance of  equipment and appliances; equipment; accounting and co-ordination of fire fighting; prevention; protection and detective services.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
·         served in the grade of Senior Fire Officer II for at least three (3) years;
·         possess wide technical knowledge and experience on all aspects of fire fighting, fire prevention and protection;
·         Shown initiative and ability to plan, direct and control fire fighting and fire Prevention activities.
·         in possession of Higher National Diploma in Fire Prevention or Protection and Management, First Aid and Disaster/Environmental Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution;

Requirements

·         Be in possession of KCSE Division II or its equivalent with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Physical Sciences
·         Disaster Management or its approved equivalent from Fire Services Training Institution recognized by Kenya National Examination Council.
·         Be between 30 years and 40 years of age
·         Be at least 5ft and 4 inches (1.62m) in height
·         Have a minimum chest measurements of 38 inches (0.92m) when expanded
·         Be computer literate in the relevant packages
·         Have a minimum of eleven (11) years of working experience in Fire and Prevention/Protection in a large organization.
