We are recruiting for the roles
of National Forest Programme Managerwithin the Conservation Division of WWF Kenya.

Department Mission: To ensure the development and implementation of the
WWF-Kenya Conservation Strategy and support of the Organization’s forest work
at both national and landscape level to the highest standards.
Major Functions:
The Manager is responsible for
national leadership; and strategic and technical support of the WWF-Kenya
Forest work.
At national level, the incumbent will
work to influence the country’s National Forest Programme (NFP) including
policy and technical commitments under the Bonn Challenge/AFR 100 including
other regional and global MEAs related to forestry.
The Manager, working with Programme
teams will be responsible for strategic development and diversification of the
Organization’s forest work across and through our Conservation Programmes to
ensure a coherent and well-articulated portfolio of interventions jointly
implemented by WWF and its partners.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Provide strategic guidance and
technical oversight for the systematic growth and diversification of WWF-K
forest work in line with the Organization’s Strategic Plan.

Influence the country’s National
Forest Programme (NFP) including policy and technical commitments under the

Identify and build strategic
alliances and partnerships with Civil Society Organizations and networks,
private sector, and government and nongovernmental

Lead in the development and
implementation of the WWF Eastern Africa Regional Forest Programme on the Kenya
part.
·
Working with Programme Managers,
coordinate the development and implementation of a comprehensive monitoring,
evaluation, and reporting plan for forest work as part of our landscape
approach to ensure effective monitoring of program performance against set
targets, timely progress reporting, and periodic evaluation of program impacts.
·
Coordinate resource mobilization
efforts for forest work either as part of the landscape approach or singly
through proactive identification of potential funding opportunities and
periodic development of funding proposals and concepts in collaboration with
Programme teams and partners.
·
Advice and support planning and
implementation of targeted scientific studies and surveys to generate new
information and innovative ideas to address specific issues of interest to our
forest work.
·
Lead WWF-K’s effective participation
and contribution to regional and international Forest processes to
share/leverage lessons and broaden partnerships for sustainable forest
management and conservation in Kenya.
·
Coordinate documentation and sharing
of lessons learned across our Programmes and the region as well, including
profiling our forest conservation achievements through the Communication Unit.
·
Provide support in the preparation
and implementation of Programme Strategies and annual work plans and budgets to
deliver high impact results.
·
Represent WWF-K in the Forest
Practice and work with Africa Focal Points and Leadership Team members for
consolidated input into Practice operations.
·
Offer leadership in innovation in
forest conservation and management through various approaches including (but
not limited to) development of projects under the REDD+ schemes under UNFCCC,
sustainable forest financing and working with the Sustainable Investments Hub
on influencing developments for sustainability.
Profile
Required Qualifications and
Experience
·
At least a Masters’ Degree in
Forestry Management; Wildlife Management; Biodiversity Conservation and
Ecosystem Management; Environment and Natural Resource Management; and related
fields. A Ph.D in any of the above fields would be an added advantage.
·
At least 15 years professional
experience in Environmental and Natural Resources management, preferably in
Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation related work in
Kenya.
·
Past experience in engagement with
Civil Society Organizations and Networks, Private Sector, and Government
Agencies on advocacy work on improved natural resources management.
·
Past experience in development and
implementation of Strategic Plans and demonstrated success in resource
mobilization.
·
Demonstrated understanding of
relevant MEAs related to forestry management, experience in the development of
carbon financed forestry projects under the REDD+ schemes, including
sustainable forest financing.

Background: WWF started implementing projects in Kenya in 1962 and
established presence in Kenya in 1986 as part of WWF East Africa Regional
Programme Office (WWF EARPO).
In September 2016 WWF-Kenya was
registered as a local NGO under the Non-Governmental Organizations Coordination
Act. As part of its growth strategy, WWF-Kenya has projected to increase and
diversify its funding base and at the same time maintain and grow the Public
Sector Partnerships (PSP) and foundation sources

This position working with other team
members of the Business Development and Communications unit (BD&C) is
critical in supporting WWF-Kenya’s growth and sustainability plan.
Major
function: Implement WWF-Kenya resource
mobilisation strategy to grow income from Public Sector Partnerships and
Institutional donors in Public Sector and Foundations to maximise sources of
income from within Kenya, through WWF network offices and other external
donors.
This mandate would include but not
limited to large funding opportunities particularly as driven by orientation to
dynamic donor interests but aligned to the WWF-Kenya Strategic Plan.
Roles and
responsibilities:

Review existing resource mobilization
strategy and develop viable best practice implementation strategies to grow
income for WWF-Kenya based on research and knowledge of the most appropriate
sources of income

Build public sector partnerships with
bilateral and multilateral agency offices and other agencies in Kenya while
working with the relevant WWF offices who manage the parent relationships

Manage ongoing fundraising efforts
among donors using company’s established relationships with In-country
