Moving The Goalposts is a unique, community-based organization that, since 2002, uses football to empower over nine thousand girls in the rural and urban areas of Coast region.
Through playing football, MTG girls discover their confidence and value themselves as strong, capable young women. MTG leagues are youth-led and managed and include girl advocates that promote health sexual choices, financial independence and female leadership.
More than nine thousand girls aged 9-25 years participate in MTG’s tournaments and ongoing leagues. Girls are encouraged to take up more leadership roles in their Community.
Post title: Programme Accountant
Reporting to: Finance & Administration Manager
Supervisee: Accounts Assistant and Accounts Clerk
Job purpose: Accountable for all aspects of financial and management accounting, and donor reporting. The person will be expected to prepare financial statements and audit schedules in line with applicable International Standards (IFRS,) and other generally accepted practices.
Main Duties Include:
Financial, Management Accounting and Control
·         Support the Finance HR and Admin. Manager in ensuring full compliance with policies & procedures, particularly around cash, advances, banking and assets.
·         Being the main data entry person into the accounting system to produce periodic and end of year Income and expenditure, financial position, cash flows, full bank monthly reconciliations etc;
·         Professionally draft annual organizational and specific donor or activity budgets.
·         Support in safeguarding of the assets of the Organisation, including the maintenance of the Fixed Asset register
·         Support finance and admin department in its function as procurement focal center, to drive the implementation of procurement policies and plans, aimed at cost effective acquisition of high quality materials, goods, consultancies and non-consultancy services;
·         Producing monthly and quarterly actual v budget (variance) analysis and other management information that may be required from time to time,
·         Preparing cash forecasts to identify monthly funding requirements
·         Contributing on operational and strategic issues as a member of the Finance and Admin. Team.
·         Work closely with the Finance HR and Admi. Manager during interim and final audits of the organisation.
Donor Compliance
·         Ensure compliance with all financial reporting and forecasting requirements of donors and ensuring the smooth flow of funds from funding sources.
·         Ensure expenditures incurred are reported in line with contractual agreements;
·         Provide financial guidance and supervision to staff that might be assigned to work under him/her including interns, with regards to donor reporting
Administration, Logistics, Legal and Statutory Compliance
·         Ensuring transactions processed fully comply with Kenyan laws and regulations
·         Assisting Finance HR and Admin. Manager in identifying and implementing financial, legislative and /or statutory changes that may affect the organization’s operations
·         Undertaking any other duties that might, from time to time, be assigned;
Person Specification
Required Knowledge Skills and Qualifications and Experience
·         A Bachelor’s degree (B.com accounting option or any other business, accounting or economics related discipline), from a recognized reputable university;
·         Must be a fully qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA), with at least 3 years post qualification experience in a busy organization;
·         Experience in a similar position at an international or regional Not-for-Profit organization deep working knowledge in NGO accounting and reporting is required;
·         Must have hands on experience in use of networked common accounting and/or ERP, on-premise or cloud-based systems, using QuickBooks
·         Resilient person- able to maintain personal effectiveness by managing own emotions in the face of pressure, setbacks or when dealing with provocative situations. Can demonstrate an approach to work that is characterized by commitments, motivation and energy.


Job Title: Education and Vocational Training Officer
Reporting to: The Education Health & Livelihoods Team Leader
Job Purpose: This role ensures the implementation of all activities under the education and Vocational training program which is geared towards supporting MTG girls and young women to realize their career goals by facilitating them to transition and complete schools and make informed career decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Oversee the implementation of annual Education and vocational activities in the organization.
·         Implement a robust education vocational and training program where girls can continue with their education and transition to higher education.
·         Build relationships with schools, vocational training centers, technical colleges, universities and potential employers for placement of girls registered in MTG program.
·         Organize goal setting forums where girls will be educated on different career pathways and assist them to develop plans for placement in schools and vocational training.
·         Develop a communication plan to reach out to key stakeholders and partners in implementation of Education and vocational program.
·         Identify and link girls to scholarship and bursary opportunities with a view to supporting them in achieving their education and/or livelihood goals.
·         Engage in mobilization and recruitment of MTG players who are not in primary or secondary school.
·         Manage and oversee identification, profiling and goal setting, and placement of girls in school and vocational training
·         Manage and oversee MTG award scheme program, identify and coordinate annual awarding of best leaders in MTG.
·         Keep a data base of all girls who are supported by MTG to join schools, vocational training, college and university
·         Organise mentorship and role model talks during MTG events; tournaments, leagues and residential training.
·         Work with relevant stakeholders in the counties to strengthen the education networks.
·         Implement advocacy work to ensure effective implementation of the back to school policy and other relevant gender specific policies that promote education of girls and young women at all education levels.
·         Design and implement content for awareness session to girls, parents and community at large on importance of education to their community.
·         Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans and budgets for the section
·         Maintain a data base of all girls that benefit from education and volunteer program
·         Oversee monitoring and evaluation activities for the education and vocational activities
·         Write concepts for resource mobilization in partnership
·         Prepare departmental, annual and donor reports.
Qualifications, competencies and experience
·         Bachelor’s degree/diploma in development studies, social sciences or any other field relevant field.
·         At least 2 years relevant work experience (working with communities in the areas of education, vocational training or resource management)
·         Experience and knowledge on Education programs will be desirable
·         Demonstrated experience in facilitation and training.
·         Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in team situations


Post Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator
Reporting to: Programme Manager

Job Purpose: Management of the Monitoring and Evaluation Department including oversight of other staff in the department and participation in Management Committee. The role also incorporates communication duties and responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Propose an M & E Strategy that is aligned to the strategic plan 2016 to 2020 of the organization
·         Develop and implement M & E procedures and guidelines to support the programme implementation and enable MTG achieve its strategic objectives.
·         Spearhead research on key issues that MTG needs to understand to guide programme development
·         Design and implement data collection and reporting controls and procedures that ensure accuracy and reliability of data that is collected
·         Development and review of comprehensive overall Monitoring and Evaluation framework and toolkits including performance indicators and benchmarks for all aspects of the organisation’s strategic direction
·         Coordinate all research and evaluations of MTG programmes
·         Collate and analyse data for reports and produce a systematic and analytical progress report to guide management in decision making.
·         Research and recommend appropriate software for data collection, archiving and analysis for the organisation to procure
·         Training staff on efficient use of Monitoring and Evaluation tools
·         Work closely with the Program Manager and the fundraising officer to develop concepts for funding, pitching to donors and resource mobilization for Monitoring and evaluation
·         Ensure publication of findings from research undertaken by MTG in reputable journals
·         Participate in the Team Leadership Committee and undertake oversight and appraisal of staff in the department
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
·         A degree holder from a recognized university
·         Three years’ experience and above undertaking research and managing data in a demanding environment
·         Experience in working with M & E software e.g. Sales force or any other
·         Proven capacity to manage a team of staff within the department
·         Excellent standard of written English and ability to communicate effectively
·         High level of proficiency in the use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Post Title: Fundraising Officer
Reporting to: Executive Director.
Job purpose: Under the guidance and direction of the Executive Director, to spearhead the fundraising function for Moving The Goalposts (MTG). MTG has been implementing a resource mobilization strategy since 2014.
The holder of this position will be charged with supporting programmes for further effectiveness in fundraising to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.
The post holder will work with the ED and senior management team to improve the fundraising strategy for the organisation, deliver this strategy and raise both restricted and unrestricted funding for the organisation, which will involve: developing partnerships with national and international corporate organisations, government ministries, international and national NGOs and organisations and support the organisation to develop their income generation strategy.
Writing applications to trusts and companies, co-organising and co-ordinating a fundraising events and high profile visits to MTG programmes will also be a key requirement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Under the direction and guidance of the Executive Director, review the existing fundraising strategy and processes and create and deliver an implementation plan
·         In agreement with the Executive Director, agree SMART fundraising targets in consultation with the Management Board
·         Create and activate a calendar of events geared towards fundraising and donor stewardship
·         Create a sustainable and diverse fundraising portfolio with funding streams based on the pillars of MTG fundraising such as Donor Grants and Corporate/Government Organisations
·         Drafting funding proposals in collaboration with the Programme Manager who will supervise the grant application process at programme level
·         Managing the grant application process and ensuring that reporting is tracked and meets donors’ expectations
·         Developing partnerships with corporate organisations, national organisations and other stakeholders.
·         Attending relevant fundraising forums and groups
·         Preparing annual income and expenditure fundraising budgets
·         Reporting to the MTG Management Board on a quarterly basis of progress to-date of specific fundraising activities and income targets
·         Carry out prospect research and develop a comprehensive fundraising database that captures all relevant information as well as handling all administrative aspects of fundraising.
·         Principal Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of individual fundraising initiatives and campaigns
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
·         At least three years’ experience of fundraising within a charity or voluntary sector organisation
·         Excellent time management skills and ability to manage own workload effectively; highly organised and methodical
·         Excellent standard of written English and ability to write compelling fundraising applications
·         Proven experience of securing income from a variety of fundraising streams
·         Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills; confident and personable with the ability to manage and build strong relationships with key individual donors and organisations
·         Holder of a degree from a reputable university
·         Able to take an innovative and creative approach to work
·         A good knowledge of fundraising and awareness of current trends
·         High level of proficiency in the use of MS Office, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
