RTI anticipates staffing the following job
position for TUSOME, a donor funded Project.
TUSOME Project is a national literacy
intervention focused on curriculum support, teacher training and teaching
material development to improve the quality of early grade instruction in
formal and non-formal schools through a reading intervention.
Regional Education Program Officer (Garissa)
S/he will provide technical support for the
implementation of technical reading activities, development of assessment for
reading in English and Kiswahili, development of instructional material,
including lesson guides and contribute to the revision of the same and also
train and support Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) on specified frameworks as
funded by the client and agreed by the Ministry of Education, Science and
Technology (MoEST).
Required qualifications and experience:
·
Bachelors
of Education or its equivalent and eight (8) years of experience in the education
sector, M.A./M.Ed. preferred;
·
Understanding
of scientifically-based reading research;
·
Knowledge
of a balanced early literacy framework understanding;
·
Knowledge
of Kiswahili and English transition instruction strategies;
·
Familiarity
with the policies and procedures of the MoEST and local school
communities.
·
Candidates
from the local county locations preferred.
Driver –
Nairobi
1 Position
S/he will drive project / office staff
members, consultants and other visitors on project / office business.
S/he will ensure that the vehicle has all
required registrations / licensing and inspections, and that necessary
documentation is retained with the vehicle as well as sufficient amount of
gas.
He/she will maintain the vehicles’
cleanliness and its security and maintain a record of trips including
kilometers traveled, fuel consumed and dates of oil changes, all according to
established reporting framework; supporting in project logistics activities.
Required qualifications and experience:
·
A
minimum 5 years relevant experience with valid Kenya driver’s license;
·
proof
of good driving record;
·
Previous
work in the Not for Profit sector and familiarity with rural terrain
preferred.
·
Experience
in logistics support is an added advantage.
·
Oral
and written English and Kiswahili language fluency is necessary.
·
Candidates

Finance
Specialist (Nairobi)
S/he
will be responsible for providing support in overseeing smooth daily accounting
operations of project efforts including field activities, linking with
administrative and logistical teams on key procurement tasks for implementation
of project activities.
S/he
will be working closely with the Finance Manager in ensuring efficient daily
project accounting including preparing activity budgets, analysis of project
actual costs against budget and processing of allowances through MPESA system
etc.
S/he
will maintain regular contact with the field Team in the field Offices to
ensure that the project receives support in the specific functional areas of
the role and respond to compliance issues raised by Q&A team.
The candidate need to be knowledgeable about work plan implementation through regular interaction with the technical team and Chief of Party.
S/he
will need to be aware of, and adheres to RTI’s, and Client’s, financial,
procurement and administrative procedures in all activities.
Provides
Technical leadership to the finance Assistants and assignments associated with
accounts payable and receivables.
Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years relevant
experience, or Master’s degree and 3 years of experience, in international
development projects, preferably donor-funded, CPA (K) or equivalent
required.
·
Knowledge of general Finance and
Accounting procedures and advanced skills in MS excel.
·
Experience in Budget preparation, use
of MPESA system for bulk payment and use of Quick Books will be an added
advantage.
·
Willingness to be flexible in working
hours and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
·
Experience with General ledger
reconciliations, Supplier payments, invoice processing, travel advance
Management and activity budgeting.
·
Good problem solving skills. Good
interpersonal communication skills.
·
She /he needs to be a detailed
oriented person with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to
work in a team and to learn complex procedures.
·
The potential candidate needs to have
the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and to take
initiative.
·
In-depth understanding of major
donors and tax regulations and procurement procedures a plus.
