Strategic Plan Development Consultant
Impact Research and Development Organization (IRDO) [www.impact-rdo.org] is a national non-governmental organization registered in 2003 in Kenya and headquartered in Kisumu, Kenya with regional offices in 6 counties.
IRDO’s mission is to improve community health and development gains by promoting local research and implementing evidence-based public health and development programs that respect and leverage community resources.
Since inception, IRDO has won and implemented 16 programs and over 30 research grants focusing on Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV prevention and treatment; 15 of which are ongoing (8 program and 7 research).
The ongoing programs and studies are funded by the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institutes of Health, USAID, and Global Fund [through Kenya Red Cross and Amref Health Africa].
IRDO has five departments namely: Research, Programs, Finance, Business Systems, and Resource Mobilization.
IRDO closely collaborates with relevant institutions and like-minded partners including National and County governments through the Ministry of Health, local and international universities, among others.
IRDO’s current Strategic Plan (2013-2017) is coming to an end in 2017.
IRDO therefore needs to develop a new 5-year Strategic Plan for the 2018 – 2022 period.
We are looking for an experienced and competent Consultant to work with IRDO’s Board of Governors, Management and Staff in the development of a new Strategic Plan to cover the period 2018-2022.

Roles

The key tasks to be carried out by the Consultant include the following:
·         Review the current Strategic Plan (2013—2017) and its implementation to date.
·         Develop methodologies and instruments to guide the development process.
·         Plan and facilitate workshops with the Board, Management and Staff
·         Develop a SWOT analysis matrix
·         Produce a final version of the Strategic Plan [after generating various versions] and supportive documents including Departmental Plans and a framework to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Strategic Plan.

Requirements

·         Detailed CV of the Consultant [the Consultant is expected to have at least 5 years professional experience in strategic planning and organizational management]
·         A proposal in response to the TOR above highlighting methodology to the assignment including a Workplan indicting duration of each key task
·         References from at least 3 different institutions where the Consultant has undertaken similar assignments.
·         At least 3 different samples of previous assignments completed by the Consultant in the last 5 years.

·         A budget to complete the assignment
·         imeframe: The assignment will commence on 15 December 2017 and conclude by January 31 2018.

Human Resource Assistant

Reporting to: Human Resource Manager
Job Summary: Perform variety of human resource support duties.

Responsibilities

·         Process, verify, and maintain documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, and classifications.
·         Assists in informing new employees of human resource policies and programs as needed
·         Oversees the human resource database. Ensures that system records are accurately recorded and cross—checked.
·         Enters new hire information in the human resource system database.
·         Tracks and resolves problems and checks system operations as scheduled.
·         Ensures that human resource files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

·         Diploma in Human Resources Management.
·         At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
·         Must be a registered member of a professional body.
·         Must have sound knowledge of the new labour laws.
·         Good communication and interpersonal skills, decision making skills and proficiency in computer application packages.
