Project: Evaluation of
Community Management of Acute Malnutrition

to disseminate our research findings to influence policy decisions and improve
the quality of life in Africa.
APHRC seeks to recruit a research assistant
in a project titled “Evaluation of Community Management of Acute Malnutrition”
whose main objective is to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of
integrating management of acute malnutrition into integrated community case
management (iCCM) of childhood illnesses through an implementation research
design in Turkana and Isiolo Counties.
Responsibilities:

Supervise
and coordinate field work in the execution of the research project to ensure
timely implementation of field operations
·
Coordinate
the development, review and translation of research tools, development of field
and training manuals
·
Coordinate
community mobilization and education of the community in relation to the
research project
·
Monitor
field work and ensure field staff adhere to data quality guidelines
·
Lead
the development of fieldwork progress reports as per the laid down schedule
·
Perform
other project related duties as assigned by the project manager or other
persons working on the project
Qualifications and Experience
·
Degree
in nutrition, public health, social sciences or other related field.
·
Degree
/ training in nutrition will be an added advantage.
·
At
least one year experience in research including coordinating fieldwork or
research activities at community level. Experience with nutrition surveys will
be an added advantage
·
Experience
working in Isiolo, Turkana and/or another arid or semi-arid area or good
familiarity with the study sites will be an added advantage
·
Supervisory/management/leadership
skills
·
Report
writing skills
·
Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with a local language in
the study sites will be an added advantage.
·
Quantitative
or qualitative skills including data cleaning, manipulation and analysis
(quantitative) and data coding and analysis (qualitative) or experience with
mixed methods will be an advantage.
