Senior Director – Water, Sanitation and
Hygiene
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Senior Director of WASH provides strategic leadership and direction for the
WASH field operations to maximize the WASH contribution to child well-being, the Sustainable Development Goals and to
ensure operational performance that meets the sector standards and donors expectations.
It Ensure effective partnership with WV
field teams, the donors and other partners. The role strengthens WV operational reputation, creates partnerships and innovative
approaches and strengthens and mobilizes the community of practice to execute programming that demonstrates evidence of
impact. The role with collaborate with WVUS Director of WASH Funding Strategy.
Responsibilities
·
Develops annual WASH Business Plans
with the Regional WASH Directors, Support Offices, and National teams.
·
Provides thought WASH leadership both
within and outside WV.
·
Ensures integration of WV
distinctives and ethos in WASH implementation.
·
Ensure alignment of WASH programming
with global sector approaches and project models.
·
Ensure overall compliance with
Partnership standards and industry standards.
·
Oversee the quality and coverage of
WASH programming.
·
Champion cross-sector collaboration
for integration of WASH with other sectors.
·
Ensure accountability of national and
regional portfolios to delivery WASH outcomes as defined in Business Plans.
·
Ensure donor promises are met or
exceeded.
·
Measure extent to which resourcing
opportunities meet WASH operations needs and impact child well-being.
·
Provide high quality technical
support to National Offices on the development of Technical Approach and
Technical Programs to address WASH needs.
·
Actively positions WV as the NGO of
choice with potential and key partners, donors and stakeholders through quality
WASH programming and evidence of impacts.
·
Participates in high level
international and regional meetings, forums and conferences as required.
·
Collaborates with Faith and
Development actors externally as we seek to integrate faith into all our
programming.
·
Determines the technical capacity
needs for the Field WASH teams.
·
Builds capability of the Field WASH
professionals and community of practice.
·
Builds understanding of current
footprint and identify opportunities for further growth and impact.
·
Promotes a culture of innovation,
collaboration and continuous improvement
·
Collaborate with Global Centre (GC)
sector lead to ensure WASH lessons are documented and disseminated.
Qualifications:
·
Masters degree required in
international relief and development, engineering or business, plus related
professional work experience.
·
Excellent in written reporting and in
verbal communication in English.
·
Strong experience and proven skills
in leading a team of technical professionals.
·
Leader with minimum 5 years
experience designing and leading WASH programming in the developing world.
·
In-depth knowledge/expertise in WASH
programming including evidence based best practices.
·
Strong relational and networking
skills, demonstrated ability to supervise teams, and significant experience
engaging with donors and fundraisers.
·
Strong experience in working with and
managing large grant portfolios for foundations, bilateral and multilateral
donors.
·
Strong experience and proven skills
in working effectively across cultures to advance priorities and achieve
change, in situations without direct authority.
·
Strong experience and proven skills
in external engagement that contributes to change in policy and practice and
builds WVs reputation as a leader in the industry.
·
Strong experience developing strategy
and policy in large organization.
·
Experience in working with faith,
faith actors and faith related issues in development.
·
Fluency in a relevant second language
(Spanish or French) is desirable.

Technical Specialist – Livelihoods and
Economic Development
The job holder will work in close
collaboration with the AP Manager, other project staff especially the Youth
Economic Empowerment Project (YEEP) for complementarity of activities,
government line ministries including Ministry of Agriculture, Department of
Fisheries, Ministry of Water Environment and Natural Resources and other
stakeholders on the ground.She/he will also be expected to integrate the grant
with other Child Well-being outcomes in line with the WVK Strategic priorities
Responsibilities
·
Project Planning, Coordination &
Implementation
·
Monitor and ensure that the grant is
coordinated, managed and executed as per plans within time and budgets, meeting
donor and community accountability;
·
Ensure that all MILEDP initiatives
within the project’s area of influence meet or exceed planned outcomes and are
implemented timely;
·
Engage with partners including GoK
line Ministries (at the sub-County, County and national level), Community Based
organization, NGO, Learning Research institutions and any relevant authorities;
·
Implement interventions in accordance
with established norms, policies aligned to acceptable financial &
operational audit results.
·
Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and
Reporting
·
Work closely with Southern Region
M&E Coordinator to effectively support the project to carry out all
measurements – baselines, assessments, designs, monitoring and evaluations – in
accordance with donor requirements and WV established standards, policies and
procedures;
·
Coordinate with the M&E to ensure
that appropriate controls, monitoring and evaluation tools are in place and
being utilized in a timely manner;
·
Ensure that the project achieves
Child Well-Being Outcomes in line with the organization’s Ministry Framework
and Development Approach, and WVK’s strategic priorities and the project
designs.
·
Develop monthly schedule for
monitoring together with communities and partners;
·
Ensure community capacity building
plan on monitoring is in place and utilized;
·
Participate in monthly data
collection -(involving communities and partners) using the standardized tools
·
Mobilize all targeted respondents /
stakeholders in a timely manner during data collection exercise.
·
Monitor monthly project expenditure
·
Apply Contextualized reporting
guidelines;
·
Generate quality Monthly Management
Reports (MMR) informed by accurate analyzed data written using language that is
appropriate to the reader and in line with World Vision reporting guidelines;
·
Generate Quality & Accurate quarterly,
semi-annual and annual reports informed by MMR and in line with donor
regulations;
·
Develop context specific electronic
and live media communications on project activities.
·
Engagement, Networking and
Fundraising
·
Collaborate with line ministries and
departments in providing technical support and assistance to the project
Qualifications
·
Degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture
Economics or related field with at least 4 years of work experience in
livelihoods and economic development projects;
·
Experience in Value Chains
development is an added advantage;
·
Grounded experience in the execution
of development of sustainable community projects.

Manager – Resource Development
The incumbent shall contribute
strategically to development and implementation of a WVK Brand Strategy,
National Resource Development strategy, corporate donor engagement plans, grant
acquisition and donor retention strategies. The Manager will serve as a main
link between World Vision Kenya and focused corporate donors.
Responsibilities
·
Grow Local Income; strengthen GAM
Processes & Ensure Effective Donor Retention
·
Develop and regularly review and
update the National Resource Development (NRD) strategy & Coordinate its
implementation.
·
Actively engage a portfolio of
diverse corporates & local foundations;
·
Local Income fundraising targets for
all WVK’s priority sectors set and reviewed annually in line with National
Office Strategy, GAM strategy and Technical Approaches.
·
Identify corporate donor priorities
and intelligence on possible opportunities.
·
Raise Local Income Grants as per WVK
set Targets for each Financial Year as per the National Resource Development
Plan.
·
Communicate Local income funding
opportunities & other relevant information to relevant stakeholders;
Technical Specialists in Quality Assurance, Grant Finance etc.
·
Develop appropriate products to
market to corporates, individuals, and local foundations eg Banks,
Communication organizations, among others.
·
Coordinate all key sectors and
functions and conduct proposals writing as per donor/Corporates or Support
Office and government guidelines and timely submission.
·
Coordinate concepts and proposal
feedback mechanisms with donors/Corporate and SOs;
·
Conduct quarterly analysis on the
success rate of all applications to specific donors assigned.
·
Coordinate WVK Local income tracking
metrics and ensure fundraising data base is in place to track achievement of
targets;
·
Coordinated contractual processes
with partners, donors, SOs or other stakeholders;
·
In collaboration with PE and
Operations technical staff, maintain updated WVK Capacity Statements for sectors
as per Corporates, /SO & or Donor interests.

Enhance Donor Attraction,
Communication and Retention
·
Coordinate the National Office in
designing programs that leverage unique, high value contributions of
foundations, individuals, local and multinational companies
·
Proactively provide donor updates on
existing grants and keep the donor relations on course;
·
Build and maintain relationships with
stakeholders and other corporate bodies to maximize value.
·
In collaboration with Operations,
coordinate donor exposure to WVK’s work with an aim of expressing our wide
capacity;
·
Coordinate leadership interaction
with donors both new and existing;
·
Coordinate donor engagement meetings
and ensure representation of WVK at all high profile meetings.
·
Actively network and initiate
strategic meetings between Corporates/donors representatives and National
Director/designee
·
Coordinate development and review of
appropriate sectoral marketing products for key Corporates/donors
·
Facilitate Internal & external
engagement business processes & communication protocol and provide updates
as may be required;
Qualifications
·
A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing,
Public Relations, Mass communications or other related training with post
graduate qualifications from a recognized university is desired.
·
At least six years’ experience in NGO
resource development.
·
Previous experience in a busy
corporate entities in communications, public relations, print, and or
electronic media is preferred
·
Professional membership in Marketing
Association of Kenya; Public Relations Society of Kenya, Chartered Institute of
Marketing or other relevant professional body.
·
Must have a good command of both
spoken and written English.
·
Ability to write creatively and edit
communication narratives or resources and reports with good photography skills
·
Established good media contacts
·
Excellent computer skills; Graphic
Design and desktop publishing skills an added advantage
·
Should be computer literate and
experienced in the use of basic software programmes.
·
Good understanding of World Vision
Operations will be an added advantage
·
Must have ability to work
programmatically
