We are seeking highly motivated professional to fill the following position:
 

Chief Security and Safety Officer
 
Applicants must be a former police Officer having served in the position of Officer Commanding Station (OCS) for 5 years or Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) for 5 years, have a secondary school education certificate supplemented by courses/diploma in security training and/or certified graduation from police academy or related field.
 
S/he must have excellent investigation skills, Administrative skills, computer skills, knowledge of associated electronic security devices, First aid and fire-fighting skills are desirable, and must be a committed Christian.
 
Main Responsibilities: 
 
The job holder will be in charge of 
  • Overseeing the security and safety of students, employees and facilities, 
  • developing and enforcing safety rules and regulations aimed at reducing risk, 
  • supervising all the activities of the contracted service provider and will be the main point of contact in the event of any emergency or security incidents that occur on site with the task of Investigating and preparing reports on those incidents/accidents. 
  • Having worked in a University will be an added advantage.

Procurement Officer

Reporting to the Administration and HR Manager, the job holder shall co-ordinate purchasing practices and other related activities within the policies of the University and adherence to best practice to ensure that procurement of goods and services result in optimal value for money and that all sectors of the university are adequately supplied to meet their assigned functions and strategies.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage the centralized procurement of equipment, stationary, supplies, office furniture etc. Maintain excellent supplier relationships whilst ensuring that the interests of AIU are protected at all times in line with the current procurement policy.
  • Manage the stock levels and ensure that the store is well managed and responsive to the requests from departments.
  • Consolidate and update the fixed assets registers and ensure that records are up to date and reflect actual physical assets in the University.
  • Maintain the property insurance register and update new equipment and property into the current insurance policy.
  • Undertake the tendering, evaluation, placement and monitoring of a portfolio of contracts and procurement services. Advise Senior Officers on the most appropriate procurement and bid evaluation strategy.
  • Resolves problems concerning bid solicitations, contract awards or contract performance review as the need arise. Addresses unauthorized purchases and conveys decisions both verbally and in writing referencing law and policy.
  • Periodically review and update the Procurement Manual and supporting documents in accordance with the needs of the University, and to train and develop skills of staff involved in purchasing within the university.
Requirements: Qualifications and experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Supplies Management, CPA 2 or CPS 2, a member of the Institute of Supplies Management and two years experience in purchasing and supplies management.
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Should have an understanding and passion for AIU Mission and Vision.
  • Have up to date knowledge of related procurement legislation including regulations for public procurement.

Administrative Assistant -Vice Chancellor’s Office

The suitable candidate must have a relevant undergraduate degree with professional qualifications and at least 2 years’ experience. 

The candidate must have excellent administrative skills, must have good interpersonal and public relations skills and be able to multi-task. 

The preferred candidate should also possess excellent written, verbal communication and telephone skills; they should uphold confidentiality and maturity, high levels of computer proficiency and have strong organizational capabilities.
 
Main Responsibilities:
 
This position will help to ensure the proper functioning of the Vice Chancellor’s Office by providing administrative and clerical support, information management and records maintenance. 

Other duties will include but not limited to;
  • Managing VC’s schedules
  • Receiving and prioritizing VC’s correspondence
  • Developing and keeping an upto date database of VC’s contacts
  • Preparing all aspects VC’s travel and university council travel among other duties.

Position of an Assistant Registrar (Exams and Timetabling)

Job Grade F
 
The suitable candidates must have a Master’s degree from a recognized University and at least 5 years’ experience as an examination officer in an institution of higher learning.

The candidate must have experience in the administration of academic programs and services; exposure and knowledge of academic and governance structures within a university environment. 

Experience in a Registrar’s office, academic advising and programme planning, implementation and evaluation. Leadership and staff management experience. 

The suitable candidate must have a working knowledge of statistical analysis and research methods.

Positions of Associate Professor & Senior Lecturers in Education Department 

Job Grade H &G, Respectively  
  • Associate Professor - 1 Position
  • Senior Lecturer - 3 Positions
The suitable candidates must have a PhD in each of the specified areas or related field from Africa International University or a recognized University by the AIU Senate and 5 years’ experience in a similar position. 

Must have professional qualification relevant to area of specialization. Have ability to teach and to supervise academic students at the University level.

In addition to ability to teach & supervise students, the ability to integrate faith, life and learning, ability to provide academic leadership, planning and organization will be an added advantage. 

Proficiency in oral and written communication and relevant computer skills, commitment to working with and encouraging diversity with good interpersonal skills is required.

Administration and Human Resource Assistant


Vacancy Code: HRA 201
 
The suitable candidate must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from a recognized university.

 S/he should have a minimum of one (1) year experience in general office responsibilities, procedures and administration. 

S/he should also be Conversant with regulatory frameworks and HR best Practice. 

S/he should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; high level of integrity & honesty, confidentiality and maturity; attention to detail and well organized.

The position holder must have strong computer skills, ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure.
 
Main Responsibilities:
 
This position will help to ensure the proper functioning of the Human Resource Office by providing administrative and clerical support, information management and records maintenance. 

Other roles will include; supporting the recruitment function including job advertisements, interview scheduling and shortlisting; updating and maintaining employee records in an accurate and timely manner, both electronic and physical; monitoring of employees leave records and ensuring timely reports; timely renewal and application of work permits. 

Assist in Preparation of accurate monthly reports pertaining to headcount, exits, entrants, promotions, interdepartmental transfers, welfare activities etc. on a timely manner. 

Assist in Facilitation of staff travel logistics, entry visas, work permits. 

Assist in Inspecting utilities such as (water, electricity, telephone). 

Assist in liaising with utility institutions e.g. Telkom Kenya, Ministry of Roads & Works, and KPLC to ensure continuity of operations.
