Coordinator – Kakuma
Organization: The

nonprofit dedicated to healing survivors of torture.

Minnesota with offices in Africa and the Middle East.
In Kenya we have offices and
clinics in Nairobi and Dadaab.
Position Summary: The
Field Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, managing and ensuring the
implementation of program operations and activities, including adherence to
logistics, HR, administration, finance and security procedures.
The Field Coordinator (FC) is
the key local representative of CVT at the regional/county level.
CVT currently operates in
Nairobi and Dadaab and is launching an operation in Kakuma Camp and Kalobeyei
Settlement.
This position will lead CVT’s
operations in Kakuma under the direction of and in coordination with the
Nairobi-based Country Director.

The FC ensures implementation
of CVT’s Mental Health and Physiotherapy programs in coordination with the CD
in the Kakuma Refugee Camp.
The FC provides general
support, guidance and serves as the focal point during program and strategic
planning, grant/proposal writing and reporting.
The FC represents the organization at the regional/county level including meetings with donors, humanitarian actors, local authorities, protocol meetings, security meetings, as well as sector/working group meetings. This could include any other meeting or event deemed necessary by the CD.

The FC represents CVT,
managing visits from donor representatives or visitors from HQ, main offices or
by other stakeholders whenever requested.

The Field Coordinator
oversees project start-up and eventually day-to-day operations of the project,
including management of all support staff and clinical staff, program support
activities, administration and security of the compound and staff.
The FC directly supervises
heads of departments, including co-supervision of lead clinical staff, along
with headquarters-based Clinical Advisor. Coordinates and directs the program
staff at the local level.
The FC ensures compliance with
CVT procedures and donor regulations applicable to the project with regards to
the clinical program, security, HR, logistics, finance and administration.

The FC is in charge of
overseeing the logistics at the local level and directly supervises the
Logistics Officer.
The FC ensures the proper
setup, rehabilitation and running of the premises (office, accommodation and
clinics).
The FC ensures the proper
functioning of the supply chain including procurement planning, purchase of goods
and services, their transportation, storage and delivery.
The FC ensures the
organization, planning and maintenance of the fleet and equipment, and the
functioning of communication equipment. All items in the stores (inventory) is
properly accounted for using stock card.

The Field Coordinator is
responsible for overseeing the management of finances including direct
supervision of the Finance Officer and ensuring adherence to the CVT financial
procedures on issues of authorization of expenses in compliance with the
budget.
The FC is responsible for all
administrative activities at the local level.

The Field Coordinator will be
directly responsible for management of Human Resources in accordance with the
CVT policy and Kenya labour laws.
The Field Coordinator will be
accountable for any task related but not limited to the management of Human
Resources of CTV in Kakuma.

The Field Coordinator a member of the security management team. Manages and ensures the security and safety of staff, premises materials and assets in the Kakuma program.

The FC monitors the
political, economic, environmental and social context of the area of operation
as well as at the regional and country level.
The FC consults with the CD
on decisions regarding security related issues. Attends all security related
meetings.

- A Bachelor’
degree in international development, Social sciences / Humanities /
business administration, human resource or related area.
- At least 5
years in field experience within a Humanitarian NGO/Agency in the same or
similar position.
- Experience of
working and living in a harsh climate and security threat area.
- Ability to work
in an isolated and rapidly evolving humanitarian emergency setting that is
lacking amenities.
- Experience
working in a refugee camp setting highly desirable.
- Proven track
record of experience in leading and managing successive programs in Kenya
- Hands on
experience in managing staff in informal locations and strong human
resource management skills in general
- Demonstrated
experience in developing and implementing security measures.
- Demonstrated
ability to develop, monitor and maintain logistics and procurement
systems.
- Excellent
mobiliser who can forge positive alliance and collaboration with the
community leaders, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Effective
verbal, written, presentation and listening communications skills
including report writing.
- Excellent
financial management skills, including financial analysis, planning and
prioritization.
- Can multi-task
effectively, with ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Able to work
effectively in a diverse team environment, with demonstrated success in
problem-solving, collaboration and working with or, managing
cross-cultural teams.
- Experience
working for an Organization with US funded grants, preferably BPRM/USAID
or UN multilateral funders.
- Knowledge of
Psychology and Psychosocial concepts a plus.
- Fluent in
English and Swahili is highly desirable.
