Job Vacancy: Senior County Coordinator (K-YES Program) in West Pokot

RTI International is implementing a USAID funded five year activity that aims to enhance the employability of Kenya Youth for increased wage and self-employment for underemployed youth who have not completed secondary school.

The Kenya Youth Employment and skills Program K-YES seek to engage Senior County Coordinator in West Pokot.
 
Position Overview: Senior County Coordinator will be responsible for managing all County Program activities including Supervision of overall program implementation, at county level, timely preparation and submission of all county financial and narrative reports.
 
Further the coordinator will be responsible for facilitating linkages with the
government, private sector and other stakeholders engaged in youth employment.
 
Specific roles and responsibilities will include:
  • Manage all County program activities, including Supervision of overall program implementation, at county level, timely preparation and submission of all County financial and narrative reports.
  • Manage all County program expenses and properties including maintenance of internal control procedures to ensure that expenses are reasonable, allowable and necessary and that program properties and premises are used for program activities and ensuring USAID financial and procurement guidelines are adhered to.
  • Oversee financial and report monitoring of grantee beneficiaries.
  • Facilitate networking and linkages among County program partners, including Government of Kenya partners, local NGOs and grassroots organizations, businesses and individuals; identify and nurture synergies with other U.S Government-funded programs and County level
  • Maintain open and regular communication with Kenya Youth Employment and Skills Program (K-YES) National Office· Represent K-YES program in County meetings and conferences and maintain good relations with program stakeholders.
  • Develop partnerships and linkages to strengthen vocational training institutions, Business service providers, youth organizations as independent structures and organizations
  • Participate in Strategic planning, work planning and implementation – participate in project team’s strategic planning, goal setting and work  planning.
  • Supervision of the Assistant program Coordinator and other field staff.
  • Prepare County and quarterly reports, consolidate monthly work plans, develop and confirm expenditures as per the budget.
  • Identify and document lessons from the field, document best practices and write at least one success story per month.
  • Mentor and provide advice and assistance to field team as needed
  • Organize trainings and monthly compact team meetings
  • Organize and plan for trainings with relevant Government facilitators and ensure materials and all logistics related to trainings and meetings are in place
  • Participate in curricula design and the development of youth friendly market driven CBETs and other program delivery documents and materials.
  • Participate in join monitoring and supervision visits with technical staff, other partner organizations and Government staff at County level
Qualifications: Applicants must possess a minimum of Relevant Master’s degree and 5-6 years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree 8-10 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

The experience should be in Youth workforce Development Programmes and implementing of USAID funded projects.

Local knowledge of County will be an added advantage.
