We are looking to fill the
position of Programmes Mentor (Out Of School) who will be reporting to the
Programmes Officer
Job Objectives: To mentor and ensure smooth implementation of DREAMS program

Key Tasks:
- Shall be
assigned to coordinate a cluster/region.
- Participate in
conducting Girl Roster exercise to enumerate AGYW
- Participate in
Community Mobilization and Sensitization on DREAMS Program
- Recruit and
enroll the most at risk AGYW in schools into the DREAMS program.
- Establish
DREAMS Safe Space Groups for Adolescent Girls and Young Women in Schools
- Case
management of AGYW. Assessing risk factors of each Adolescent girl and
young woman, making case treatment plans and executing them promptly
- Deliver
Evidence Based Interventions in health education, financial education and
GBV Prevention training content to AGYW in safe space groups
- Work with
DREAMS Program staff to refer and link AGYW to appropriate services
including post GBV care, reproductive health and other services.
- Deliver
sustainability through building a cascading leadership model, in safe
space groups
- Initiate and
strengthening guiding units within the communities.
- Conduct follow
up home visits to AGYW
- Lead
discussions on recommended EBIs.
- Identify and
report success stories and most significant change.
- Report
progress on mentorship and be a role model to AGYW.
- Participate in
QA meetings with KGGA DREAMS staff and Case workers.
- Prepare
monthly report.
- Perform any
other duties as assigned to you.
Qualifications
Behavioural Aspects:
- Diploma in
Development studies / sociology / Education / Counselling / Social Work.
- Knowledge of
HIV Prevention programming including conducting effective referral and
linkage to services
- 3 years’
experience implementing community based HIV programs. Working experience
in Nairobi informal urban settlements in Starehe Sub-County will be an
added advantage
- Previous
working experience with young people especially Adolescent Girls and Young
Women
- Training
Facilitation Experience. Training on Evidence Based Interventions (Healthy
Choices for A Better Future; My Health, My Choice, SHUGA II and other EBIs
will be an added advantage
- Experience
working for not-for-profit organization(s)
- Ability to
work with a team and independently
- Initiative,
dependability and organizational ability
- Fluency in
both oral and written English and Kiswahili Excellent software expertise
in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to
interacting will all levels of staff.
- Experience
working with volunteers is desirable.
- Ability to
thrive in a fast-paced commercial environment with serial deadlines.

program

and filing of AGYW while maintaining a database of the mentees.
- Working
closely with the Guide Teacher in implementation of the DREAMS program and
strengthening the girl guiding unit.
- Conduct follow
up home visits to AGYW
- Identify and
report success stories and most significant change.
- Report
progress on mentorship and be a role model to AGYW.
- Participate in
QA meetings with KGGA DREAMS staff and Case workers.
- Prepare

program at the ward level and support the mentors and Case Workers.

- Monitor and
report on the project activities and ensure compliance with plans and
USAID standards.
- Conduct
regular visits to the field to support school based interventions and meet
with stakeholders to ensure an effective system as per project goals and
objectives.
- Provide
technical support, supervision and guidance to mentors and case workers.
- To ensure
proper selection and verification of project beneficiaries in coordination
with the monitoring and evaluation officer, mentors in schools and
caseworkers in community structures.
- Receive data
from mentors, Schedules and analyses for reporting.
- Work closely
with other KGGA departments and other stakeholders for more effective and
efficient implementation of interventions.
- Supervise the
mentors in the implementing wards to ensure they implement the program as
expected
- Ensure timely
implementation of the project activities as per work plan.
- Ensure proper
documentation on all project interventions.
- Take part in
the strategic planning, scheduling, assessments, monitoring and evaluation
of the DREAMS project.
- Participate in
assessments and/or surveys relevant to the program.
- Participate in
project proposals writing.
- Compile
project progress reports as required.
- Perform any
other duties assigned to her.
- Undertake
other duties as your line manager should require in keeping with the
responsibility of the post.

Qualifications
- Degree in development
studies, Education, Sociology, Social Work or any other related course.
- 4 Years
working experience in HIV and AIDS Program Implementation
- Previous
Experience working for not-for-profit organization(s)
- Ability to
work with a team and independently
- Initiative,
dependability and organizational ability
- Strong oral,
written and comprehension skills
- Excellent
software expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to
interact with all levels of staff.
- Experience
working with volunteers is desirable.
- Ability to
thrive in a fast-paced commercial environment with serial deadlines.
