Management Accountant

Our client, a water and sewerage company in the Western Kenya Region seeks to recruit an innovative and result - oriented professional who will play a critical role in supporting the organization to achieve its mandate and objectives.  
 
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for initiating research activities and following up on the implementation of agreed upon plans. 

The incumbent will also initiate and ensure that performance evaluation processes against set targets are undertaken.  

Key responsibilities and duties are:
  • Develop, implement and monitor forecasting processes and procedures.
  • Prepare periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and provide relevant commentaries.
  • Provide technical and administrative support and advice to the senior management team in developing and administering strategic frameworks that will enable the company achieve its goals and objectives.
  • Participate in short, medium and long-term business planning activities including providing technical support and guidance to the senior management team as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial information systems.
  • Participate in the co-ordination of the preparation and analysis of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and strategic plans.
  • Project costing and business unit profit and loss presentation.
  • Lead and participate in CAPEX/ infrastructure planning activities and monitor their implementation so as to ensure that Company’s financial resources are secure, effectively utilised and that its policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Assign income and costs to projects, services and products and conduct value for money appraisals and advise management on appropriate strategies to maximize revenues.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and business metrics development.
  • Support timely submission of forecasts and actual variance analysis.
  • Develop ad-hoc analysis to assist in critical business decision support, including new business opportunity identification and modelling.
  • Advise management on the financial implications and consequences of alternative business decisions.
  • Manage, lead and develop staff.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
  • A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other related
  • CPA (K) is a Must
  • IT user skills and knowledge of accounting software
  • Minimum 7 years working experience in a similar position with at least two years being in a supervisory position.
  • Conversant with Kenya government tax policies and statutory compliance.
