Our client Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), has a key mandate to market Kenya at local, national, regional and international levels as a premier tourist destination; identify tourism market needs and trends and advise tourism stakeholders accordingly.

Head of Finance

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Finance is responsible for developing and executing the finance management functions of KTB including accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, deal analysis and negotiations with funds and banks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide financial planning to support the corporate strategy and be the custodian of financial plans and financial resource utilisation;
  • Mentor, coach and provide leadership to the Finance team;
  • Develop and review KTB’s financial internal control systems;
  • Ensure that financial reports are accurate and delivered on a timely basis and provide the required information and advice to the CEO and other departments;
  • Coordinate the auditing of KTB’s financial statements, respond to audit queries and ensure implementation of audit recommendations; and
  • Provide financial advice to the management and Board of Directors.
Person Specifications
  • Bachelors of Commerce degree (Finance, Accounting, Banking or related field);
  • Master’s in Business Administration (Finance, Accounting, Banking or related field);
  • Must be Certified Public Accountant: CPA and/or ACCA); and
  • At least 8 years’ experience with at five (5) years served in a senior management position.

Head of Human Capital and Administration

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Human Capital and Administration is responsible for developing and executing human resource and administration strategies including talent acquisition, talent management, performance management, change management, reward management, employee relations and administration to achieve KTB’s corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and review human capital management policies, strategies and systems to ensure that KTB attracts, retains and motivates talented staff;
  • Develop, implement and review administration policies, strategies and systems to ensure delivery of quality services to internal customers;
  • Strengthen seamless inter-departmental linkages by ensuring that human resource is effectively used to support the key objectives of KTB to increase productivity and increase results in order to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction; and
  • Provide HR advice to the CEO and management.
Person Specifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Commerce, Business or a relevant field;
  • MBA in a relevant field;
  • Must possess a valid Human Resources practicing certificate from Institute of Human Resources Management Kenya;
  • At least eight (8) years relevant experience with five (5) years served in a managerial position; and
  • Knowledge of labour laws and public sector regulations in Kenya is essential.

Strategy and Development Manager

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Strategy and Development Manager is responsible for the management of the strategy and development functions of KTB including elaborating the marketing strategy and implementation of the plans of action, ensuring KTB remains competitive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of KTB’s Corporate and Destination Strategy, ensuring that it responds to the national strategy and tourism sector plans, including Vision 2030;
  • Scan the environment to determine the need for review or change in strategies;
  • Identify and capitalise on opportunities to influence the development of public policy at the local, regional and national levels;
  • Forge strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to evaluate and recommend destination development initiatives that improve tourism in Kenya;
  • Develop and implement appropriate tools for cascading, monitoring and evaluating the delivery of the Corporate and Destination strategy; and
  • Oversee the effective implementation of the quality management systems in KTB.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Regional Marketing Manager is responsible for designing and implementing plans to achieve growth and commercialisation targets for expanding Kenya’s destination customer base in the market area under their responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities for Kenyan tourism in their source market and define action plans and strategies to exploit opportunities in the market area under their responsibility;
  • Ensure timely and efficient implementation of regional marketing strategy and annual work plan and ensure that regional performance targets are set and achieved;
  • Manage, supervise and monitor suppliers’ performance in their market in order to achieve objectives;
  • Gather continuous market intelligence on the tourism brands’ performance, customer and trade attitudes, and new problems and opportunities in the market area under their responsibility; and
  • Spearhead tourism brands’ improvements to meet changing market needs.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Strategic Planning or related field;

  • Lead the development, execution and optimisation of KTB’s online marketing efforts;
  • Manage the creative direction and design of compelling and effective online marketing tools;
  • Provide support and advice to the Marketing and Public Relations teams, and contracted agencies, ensuring effective integrated cross-channel campaigns; and
  • Review new digital communication technologies and keep KTB at the forefront of developments in online marketing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and/or Communication;
  • Digital Marketing Certification;

Events and Exhibitions Manager

Reporting to Director of Marketing, the Events and Exhibitions Manager is responsible for overseeing the design of concepts for each exhibition that KTB participates in as well as organizing events including but not limited to fairs, fam-trips, press-trips and workshops.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that the Exhibition Unit is effectively used to support the business objectives of KTB;
  • Based on the requirements of the Marketing Department, design KTB’s events plan;
  • Provide end to end planning and logistics services to the rest of KTB in the organisation of events including negotiating on exhibition locations, materials, space and cost and managing external suppliers; and
  • Monitor and evaluate the exhibitions’ effectiveness as a marketing tool.
Person Specifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Public Relations or related field;
  • Postgraduate in Project Management or Marketing is desirable;
  • Diploma in Design, Marketing, Public Relations or in a related field; and
  • At least five (5) years proven experience as an Event Manager.
