Vacancy: Finance Assistant
Location: Kisumu, Kenya
About us: CMMB is a global non - governmental, humanitarian and
development organization with a special focus on making healthcare available to
all.
The Position: Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant will
support the mission, goals and operations of the Catholic Medical Mission Board
(CMMB) in Kenya through the provision of administrative support that ensure
smooth running of the Finance Office.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive cash
and cheques payments to CMMB; issue receipts for cash or cheque received
and safely store them pending banking.
- Prepare Petty
cash payment vouchers for each payment and facilitate their signing by the
designated signatories.
- Pay out cash
and cheques to the right payees against properly signed vouchers
- Examine all
requisition requests and ensure they are as per budget before issuing
advance payments.
- Examine every
payment schedule received to ascertain that it is genuine and accurate.
- Prepare
accurate and timely petty cash requests for reimbursements.
- Update the
Asset and Inventory Register regularly.
- Participate in
the preparation of monthly donor reports by ensuring all the transactions
are availed on time for reporting
- Ensure timely
reconciliation of manual records for the advances paid and the expense
forms submitted by field staff.
- Secure
supporting documents or authority to back all expenditure vouchers
- Send the fully
supported and accurate vouchers to the Compliance Officer on a timely
basis.
- File all
accounting vouchers and document properly.
- Ensure timely
and accurate supply of information on financial matters for management
decision making;
- Perform any
other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Finance
Manager
Qualifications and
Experience:
- Bachelor
Degree in Commerce (BCOM) or Business Administration majoring in
accounting
- Professional
Accountancy Qualifications (CPA II/ACCA II)
- Minimum of (1)
years of accounting experience in a similar capacity working with an
international NGO
- Possess a high
degree of integrity
- Good
communication and organizational skills
- Proven written
and verbal proficiency in English
- Hands on
application of Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel and PowerPoint); working
knowledge of Abila (Sage) accounting software preferred
