Data Officer
You will be responsible for field-level implementation & coordination of data collection, storage, analysis and reporting at project level.
I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) is a leading Kenyan NGO registered in 2004. ICL works using the Quadra Helix Model of partnering with the Government of Kenya, through the Ministries of Health, Education, Agriculture, Youth Affairs and Vision 2030 among others, Corporates, Universities and Civil Society Organisations, to design interventions to solve problems in different communities.
ICL has programs around four pillars namely Jiimarishe (Health), Jiinue (Economic Empowerment), Jielimishe (Education), Jiongoze (leadership and Governance). The programs are anchored in over 234 learning institutions (Primary, Secondary and tertiary institutions) across 23 Counties in Kenya that reach over 1 Million youth annually.

Responsibilities


Project Planning and design
·         Participate in reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the funded proposal
·         Participate in project planning process including creating Project, Resource, Financial, Quality, Risk and Reporting plans
·         Ensure effective utilization of project resources including budget control and value for money
·         Develop quality plans to ensure the project meets the intended objectives.
Data management
·         Ensure that program data from field sites has been verified and entered in the respective programmatic databases in a timely manner, correctly and accurately ready for analysis and Reports generation.
·         Assist in data cleaning, aggregation and basic data analysis as directed by the M&E Officer
·         Develop data or research protocol documents for both internal and external project teams.
·         Maintain all programs data base for information extraction when required
·         Ensure project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately.
Project Monitoring & Evaluation
·         Participate in reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the scope of work
·         Compile reports (narrative and data) and submit them to the M & E Officer as per the set deadlines
·         In accordance with donor requirements, create or maintain procedures for capturing and publishing monthly, quarterly and annual project reports.
Resource Mobilization
·         Take part in resource mobilization through participation in proposal development with other program staff i.e. finance
·         Design, implement and evaluate projects with an aspect of resource mobilization.

Requirements

·         A Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences
·         Diploma in project management or monitoring and evaluation will be an added advantage.
·         A minimum of two years’ experience in education related projects.
·         Extensive experience in outcome mapping and reporting
·         Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
·         Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing Programs.
·         Proficient knowledge of data entry and analysis packages: SPSS and Epi Info
·         Experience in implementing DfID funded projects is highly desirable.
·         Excellent report writing skills
·         Knowledge on programming highly desirable
·         Keen eye for details and strong analytical skills

Communications & Advocacy Officer
You will be responsible for strengthening of communication through enhancement of organization visibility, increase market share of organization products and relation between ICL, partners and the public.

Responsibilities

Communication Planning
·         Participate in reviewing the goals and objectives as set out in the departmental work plan.
·         Develop communication plans in consultation with the Communication Manager in order to accomplish goals within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards
·         Schedule tasks, deadlines and milestones for all stakeholders and resources.
Communication strategy implementation
·         Design, develop and implement project based messages that seek to ensure smooth running of project
·         Participate in development of the design, content and production of various ICL publications.
·         Implement and maintain a “house style” in all ICL written Communications.
·         Develop success stories and disseminate it through the different media platforms such as the Kenya Mpya website, Social Media, newsletter and through the print media.
·         Implement and tracking events, campaigns and preparing post-campaign performance analysis
·         Ensure communication and knowledge management are built into every project proposal
·         Manage, review and update organisation website
Advocacy
·         Plan and conduct Child Protection Training to both leaners, teachers and households on community child protection advocacy initiatives.
·         Oversee public dialogue and policy lobbying to address the Child Protection initiatives.
·         Engage the media around key issues affecting the girl child; raise awareness; and inform policy making.
·         Build the capacity of the project team and community management structures in advocacy.
Management of internal communication
·         Manage internal communication within the organization
·         Keeps employees informed of company events or updates, service opportunities, and upcoming product releases.
·         Manage the social media platforms
·         Coordinate communications projects with vendors and contractors for the development and production of educational event promotional materials, web site production and other collateral.
·         Edit communications and strategic sales proposals and plans created by internal staff.
·         Managing and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information.
Public relation
·         In Liaison with Communication Manager, conduct regular partner and supporter forums to retain public image and effectively manage media relations.
·         Develop and manage print, radio and TV media campaigns to increase organization visibility
·         Give support in developing media strategy, corporate mobilization strategy, drafting press releases, responding to media enquiries and building dialogue with journalists.

Requirements

·         A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, Journalism, Public relation or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications.
·         Professional level skills in graphics and knowledge of desktop publishing for in-house graphics design and production.
·         Professional level skills in proposal and publications development with writing and editing experience
Skill in writing for a variety of audiences.
·         Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles, ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics.
·         Strong editing and proofreading skills.

Assistant Project Officer
You will oversee economic empowerment of households to increase their income, through training, value chain development, value addition, access to credit, business startup and linkage and access to market. This should serve to increase the life chances of marginalized girls in Meru, Mombasa and Laikipia counties by increasing performance, learning, transition through an integrated approach. In addition, support counties in the actualization of their county strategic plans aligned to Vision 2030

Responsibilities

Project Planning and design
·         Design Economic empowerment interventions responsive to context
·         Design or review training manuals to aid in delivery of the intervention
·         Develop project Economic Empowerment work plans
·         Develop and maintain relevant database of data and serve as a hub of data that may be required by other stakeholders
·         Incorporate workable empowerment model in new projects.
Value chain development
·         Assess the current prevailing conditions among farmers in regards to agribusiness development
·         Develop upstream and downstream linkages for farmers
·         Design a business model, SACCO structure, farm production plan, training manual, model farm, farm production protocols, communication plan and sponsorship protocols.
·         Oversee Implementation of the economic empowerment designed plans for the County
·         Monitor and evaluate and improve the economic empowerment interventions
·         Develop replication plans to a wider geographical scope
·         Support non-agricultural parents start small businesses.
Project implementation and training
·         Carry out entrepreneurship trainings of the different target groups; parents, guardians
·         Train the parents and guardians of marginalized girls in the implementation of group savings, loans and business development skills
·         Participate in the development and update of training materials.
·         Forge partnerships within the project sites for the attainment of project goals.
·         Collaborate with partners in corporate mobilization
·         Engage business mentors and coaches to mentors and support individuals and groups to excel in their established businesses or IGAs.
Project Monitoring& Evaluation
·         Compile reports (narrative and data) and submit them to the Project Officer (M&E) as per the set deadlines
·         Participate in the design, data collection and analysis of surveys and routine data
·         Ensure proper documentation and dissemination of lessons learnt.
·         Evaluation of training conducted.
·         Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees.

Requirements

·         A Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences preferably in Education or agribusiness
·         Diploma in project management will be an added advantage
·         Be an excellent facilitator and can create partnerships within the project area.
·         Knowledge on programming highly desirable
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, a keen eye for details, good presentation and interpersonal skills and excellent report writing skills.
·         People management skills as well as mentorship experience and capability.
·         A minimum of three years training experience
·         Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
·         Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing Programs.

Project Outreach Associate
You will be responsible for field-level implementation & coordination of case management processes, monitoring and evaluation of child protection activities, as well as providing guidance to Project Officers, Assistants and Community Volunteers.

Responsibilities

Project Planning and design
·         Participate in the development and design of new project proposals with enhanced child protection component.
·         Participate in reviewing the attainment of goals and objectives as set out in the funded proposal
Child protection implementation
·         Assist the coordination of all project activities including preparation of work plans
·         Ensure all Project Officers and Assistants understand the child safe guarding policy and mechanisms for reporting concerns
·         Manage and support the individual case management and implementation of I Choose Life – Africa’s Gender, Child Protection and Do No Harm Policy and strategy.
·         Provide support to Project staff and all project partners to ensure timely management of data and documentation of cases at the intervention with relevant Project staff, ensure records are accurately updated
·         Maintain confidentiality, privacy in the management of case files and observe data protection and confidentiality protocols while handling both the paper based and electronic data at all stages of data management.
·         Deliver capacity building trainings for project staff, community structures and project partners.
·         Comply with all relevant ICL’s policies and procedures with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.
Stakeholder management
·         In conjunction with project staff, participate in National, County and sub-county level interagency meetings and engage in the identification and building of links with other partners/agencies, the Government and the community to ensure that issues related to child protection are raised and addressed.
·         Collaborate and coordinate with other aid agencies, governmental institutions and other child protection organizations in order to promote cooperation and strengthen systems for children.
Project Monitoring& Evaluation
·         Identify and contribute to development of case studies and success stories to ensure milestones are documented and reported on
·         Conduct regular data collection using existing tools and/or design new tools as need may be in order to track project performance on indicators and measure overall impact.
·         Prepare timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative information, on Gender, Child
·         Protection and Do No Harm activities and input into regular reports as required.
·         Work closely with the M&E team and project officers to conduct regular data quality checks to ensure case management information collected as part of documentation and monitoring is accurate, reliable, complete, precise, timely and has high integrity.
·         Support in project research in collaboration with the project M&E team.
Desired Education and Training
·         Educated to a minimum degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent including but not limited to Gender, Anthropology, Education, Sociology or Counselling Psychology
·         Relevant Child Protection Training, preferably a Diploma.

Requirements

·         Minimum 5 years proven experience in community development, girl child education, the logical framework approach and other strategic planning strategies
·         Good understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
·         Planning and implementing projects in a consortium partnership including children and households
·         Field/Project work and working with communities in marginalised areas
·         Experience tracking/tracing program beneficiaries over a long period of time including their location, social, academic and physical growth and well being
·         Experience working with primary and secondary schools is an added advantage
·         Ability to work with a team, foster a team approach and incorporate capacity building activities into the program
·         Ability to analyze and utilize program development gaps for designing programs.
·         Demonstrate capacity for collaboration, networking and resource mobilization.
