Title position: Commercial Director
Location: Kampala- Uganda
Our client a Solar Company in Kampala is hiring a Commercial Director, a seasoned professional to design and manage the smooth execution of the company’s marketing & sales strategy, thereby contributing to building a rock-solid foundation for further growth of the company in East Africa.
About the role: The Commercial Director leads the marketing and sales organization which currently consists of 15 regions with each 3 branches, and a marketing team.
There is a significant opportunity to grow staff productivity, while also increasing the level of client satisfaction.
The Commercial Director further oversees the expansion of the branch network in and beyond Uganda.
He/she reports to the COO, and works hand in hand with the other senior executives (CFO, and the Directors for R&D, Business Development and Risk Management).
Responsibilities include:
·         Develop a deep and constant understanding of client preferences and sales staff behavior;
·         Develop a winning sales strategy and report progress against results;
·         Build a strong middle manager layer;
·         Lead the execution of the sales strategy and achieve the targets set for sales, credit portfolio quality and client satisfaction;
·         Ensure smooth collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; and
·         Identify new commercial opportunities or opportunities to increase efficiency
About you
You are someone who cares deeply about improving livelihoods in Africa.

You have a deep interest in and proven excellence if it comes to managing a sales force.
You are a natural leader able to guide and motivate decentralized sales teams to set and achieve their targets, while working in a complex, constantly changing and resource-constrained environment.
You love to make people around you perform better by constant training and coaching, however you lack tolerance for underperformance.
You are a problem-solver, a direct and candid communicator, excited about being hands-on without getting lost in the weeds.
You have over 8 years of successful sales management experience, preferably in a fast growing decentralized retail organization in East Africa.
You have completed a BSc and MSc/MBA degree at an accredited university.

The Commercial Director will be based in Kampala, but the job requires field travel in and outside Uganda.
