Job Summary: Youth Agenda (YAA) is looking for a  young dynamic,  passionate  innovative  Programme Officer in charge of Knowledge Generation & Management to coordinate and manage Research, Documentation, Advocacy and Communication activities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Programme Officer- Knowledge Generation and Management Responsibilities will include:
  • Generating data for advocacy including monitoring policy implementation
  • Coordinating documentation, publishing and dissemination of youth related information.
  • Researching, writing articles, generating; newsletters, impact reports, journals, publicity materials, factsheets,  internet web pages information and other publications for internal and external audiences
  • Organising, coordinating and monitoring media coverage for YAA activities including  social media management
  • Generating and managing YAA electronic reports through videos and photographs
  • Designing and organising project related campaigns and profiling of youth leaders  to enhance their visibility
  • Responsible for YAA Project database management 
  • Branding  and coordinating public relation activities  and events
Personal Specification
  • Candidates must have in their possession a University degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Policy, Law, Communication, Sociology, Political Science or related field;
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a related field  is an added advantage;
  • A minimum of 3 years experience working on policy /advocacy/ communication issues;
  • Candidates must be below 35 years of age
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to write various types of documents including articles, press statements, position papers, information materials, proposals and donor reports;
  • Strong research skills;
  • Analytical Thinking and Decisive Judgment;
  • Experience of working with civil society, and of developing and implementing strategies for civil society capacity-building and dialogue/advocacy towards power-holders would be an advantage;
  • Experience of working in complex and politically-sensitive contexts, and excellent political, economic and social  judgement;
  • Understanding of youth issues  and passionate about communication
  • Ability to work in a non-partisan manner, sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences;
  • Knowledge of key policy issues and gender equality  would be an advantage
  • A team player: able to demonstrate a constructive, cooperative and problem-solving approach;
  • A flexible and dynamic approach to work is essential.
