Facility Manager Job in Kenya

Kenyatta University is in the process of opening a new state of the art Hospital - Kenyatta University Hospital (KUH) in line with the University Strategic Plan and the Government Vision 2030 Development Plan.

The Hospital aspires to meet the health needs of all Kenyans as well as regional and global citizens. The hospital will also offer training of highly skilled medical personnel while carrying out biomedical research. 

To this end the University seeks to employ a highly qualified and self-driven person to the following position:
 

Facility Manager 

Reporting to the Director - Hospital Administration, the Facility Manager Job will oversee and coordinate the Hospital Estate Management Division, and advise the executive on hospital engineering services at the KUH.
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sit as member of the department’s senior management team, participate in and contribute to all its mandates and activities
  • Oversee and manage the engineering function of the hospital by ensuring that all its resources are well planned for in order to support timely and quality engineering service delivery in the hospital
  • Participate in and contribute to the overall strategic planning process for the hospital
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the hospital engineering division for timely and quality service delivery in the hospital
  • Offer supportive supervision of hospital engineering division facilities and services, and its sections and departments in the hospital
  • Ensure that the hospital engineering division generates the target budget required to facilitate hospital engineering services delivery and other hospital financial obligations
  • Ensure the coordination of the implementation of the hospital strategic plan in the hospital engineering division within the framework of the vision, mission and culture of the hospital and other national and international healthcare frameworks
  • Ensure that hospital engineering division has all the required human and non-human resources required to offer hospital engineering services in order to support clinical referral, research and training services in the hospital
  • Oversee and ensure the recruitment, maintenance and disciplinary action and processes of the hospital engineering division staff in the hospital
  • Oversee and coordinate the provision of timely quality and sufficient hospital engineering services in the hospital within the established policy and professional frameworks
  • Ensure continuous training and development of hospital engineering division staff for their effective and efficient performance and productivity in the hospital
  • Ensure continuous advisory services concerning hospital engineering services in the hospital to the hospital executive and other stakeholders through the appropriate media
  • Work in collaboration with other (clinical) divisions, sections and departments in dealing with engineering issues for timely quality clinical referral, research and training services in the hospital
  • Ensure and oversee monitoring and evaluation of the hospital engineering division in order to establish its progress and achievement, prepare and disseminate periodic reports appropriately.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution
  • Masters’ Degree in Biomedical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution
  • At least five (5) years’ experience as an Assistant Director in an Engineering field in a similar level organisation, or four years’ working experience as an Assistant Director of an engineering field in a County Government
  • Registration with accredited respective regulatory and/or professional body where applicable
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of relevant legislations
